ARTS: TECHNIQUES
AND PRACTICES
New age in the evolution of art implies the
development of new techniques. These
recent techniques determine the movement
in which this art is directed. Contemporary
art focuses largely on minimalism, found
objects, and large scale paintings. Each of
these techniques brings a fresh perspective
to artistry and expression making art creation
more interesting and original.
Minimalism
The contemporary medium used in creating an art work in its varied forms
which has become a product of either the combination of the traditional
forms and the modern products which have resulted form innovative and
resourceful creativity. This is also referred to as hybrid media which reflect a
more intense and unique expression of the Artist's sentiment and ideas.
Contemporary Philippine Architecture
Philippine Sculpture is the most familiar art forms among Filipinos. From the
transitional carving of anitos to the santos to Christ and down to the saints,
Filipinos find it rather not difficult as they are already familiar with the ways of the
wood.
Contemporary Philippine Photography
Much has changed in how written material specifically literature is read in the
contemporary period. Written narratives, short stories, novels and the like are not
necessarily found on published materials anymore but largely on on-line sources
such as the Tagalog Online Pocketbook, Pinoypub.ph, Wattpad and the like.
Contemporary Performing Art
Contemporary Art is not only confined to films, paintings, performing arts and the like
but also to products that define Filipino artistry and ingenuity. Such is revealed in the
creation of the very unique and intricately made lanterns from Pampanga. Lantern-
making is difficult in every inch of its production. Lighting varies with its corresponding
movement and color.
