Orthographic Projection: by Dr. Amit V Jomde School of Mechanical Engineering Mit, Wpu

Orthographic projection is a method of drawing 3D objects in 2D planes. It assumes parallel projection lines perpendicular to projection planes from an infinite distance. Only first angle projection is used, placing the object in the first quadrant. There are four standard projections - front, top, right side, and left side - defined by the direction of sight and projection plane. Orthographic projections allow depicting a 3D object from different views through parallel projected lines and planes.

Orthographic Projection
Orthographic projection is drawing of three dimensional object
in two dimensional plane.

We assumed that observer is at infinite distance and rays or

projection lines are parallel to each other and perpendicular to
plane of projection.

In orthographic projection we are using only first angle

projection method only i.e.. object is placed in first quadrant
only.
