� The science of preserving and protecting your
health is known as hygiene.
� The way we take care of our bodies and
surroundings can have a direct impact on our
health.
� Proper hygiene helps to protect us physically,
mentally and emotionally.

� The various methods a person takes to avoid
infection, maintain cleanliness and ensure good
health.

Wash your face
�  Washing the body
helps keep it free of
disease-causing germ,
acne, oily skin
Wash your hair- shampoo & condition at least
1x a week- prevents hair loss/damage and
infection
Brush your teeth, tongue, Floss, use
mouth wash- reduce risk of gum disease
and tooth decay.
If your breath smells, you didn’t do it
right

sure that gum disease and
tooth decay are avoided.

Exercise daily to maintain a healthy
body
Eat healthy foods

What is the right way to wash your hands?
Follow the five steps below to wash your hands
the right way every time

� Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn


off the tap, and apply soap.
� Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be
sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers,
and under your nails.
� Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum
the "Happy Birthday" song from beginning to end twice.
� Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
� Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
