WHAT IS COMPUTER?

 According to Webster's Dictionary:


 
Computer is one that computes; specifically:
a programmable usually electronic device
that can store, retrieve, and process data.

COMPUTER
LARGE SCALE COMPUTERS

These are types of computer that handles large information.


They are also big in size. Examples of these computers are:

Mainframe Computer
Supercomputer
Server
Mainframe Computer
Supercomputer
Server Computer
PERSONAL COMPUTERS

It is a multi-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and


price make it feasible for individual use. Examples of these
are:

Desktop Computer
Laptop/Notebook/Netbook
Tablets/iPad
Smartphones
EMBEDDED COMPUTERS

It is a combination of a computer processor, computer


memory, and input/output peripheral devices—that has a
dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electrical
system. Examples of these are:

Household Appliances
DVD
CHARACTERISTICS
OF COMPUTER
SPEED
Computers work at an incredible speed. A
powerful computer is capable of
performing about 3-4 million simple
instructions per second.

ACCURACY
In addition to being fast, computers
are also accurate. Errors that may
occur can almost always be
attributed to human error.
STORAGE
Todays computers can store large volumes of data. A
piece of information once recorded
(or stored) in the computer, can never be
forgotten and can be retrieved almost
instantaneously.

DILIGENCE
Computers are highly consistent. They do not suffer
from human traits of boredom and
tiredness resulting in lack of concentration.
VERSATILITY
Computers are versatile machines and are
capable of performing any task as
long as it can be broken down into a
series of logical steps

NO FEELINGS
Computer does not have emotions,
knowledge, experience, or feelings.

helps us make our tasks easier. It is also that we know
the different types of computer, its uses and as well as

characteristics.

explanation of your work in a
sheet of paper.
