Biological – interrelated requirements
necessary to live.
Material – includes the non-living
aspects of the physical environment and
all that is in it, such as: roads, vehicles,
tools, equipment, structures in which
people live and work.

Mental – concerns thinking and other
functions of the mind including learning,
acquiring new information and being able to
use it.
Emotional – how we feel and our ability to be
happy and free from negative emotions.

LOOB (inner reality) – consists of positive and
negative changes in thoughts and feelings which
result from the adverse or extreme life events.
KAPWA (external reality) – consists of adaptive or
maladaptive changes in our relationships with the
family, at work and with the environment.
KAGINHAWAAN (peace of mind) – refers to our
state of inner peace which may be sustained by faith
in a “Higher Power” or ability to give positive
meaning to the adverse event.
KAKAYAHAN (empowerment) – comes from our
ability to recognize and use our own resources as
well as the availability of external support.
