PROGRAM 1cn

The document discusses different networking hardware and devices. It describes the aim of the program is to learn how to handle and configure RJ-45 connectors, CAT-6 cables, and crimping tools. It then defines common networking devices like hubs, switches, routers, and modems and provides brief descriptions of their functions in a network. Specifically, it states that hubs connect multiple devices but broadcast all data, switches connect devices efficiently and are an upgraded hub, routers find the best path between networks, and modems connect computers to the internet by changing digital data transmission technologies.

PROGRAM 1

AIM- To learn handling and configuration of networking hardware like RJ-45 connector, CAT-6
cable, crimping tool, etc.

FCC- Federal Communication Commission

-one such standard for connectors
RJ-Registered Jack
RJ11, RJ45 - subtypes of RJ:- C, F, W , L, S, M,X eg RJ11, RJ11W
Program 2:
Configuration of router, hub, switch etc. (using real devices or
CISCO Packet Tracer)
•   Networking Devices ->
-devices which are used to communicate with other devices in a network. These devices are
called Networking Devices.

Internal External Portable Devices

Internal basically in side the desktop, laptop or mobile like ethernet wifi card or bluetooth if
we disconnect our device it does not effect other device until its not in shared devices.
External Devices is shared devices every person in a network is using that devices , not
directly but indirectly every devices has its importance in a network.
Portable Devices battery power device which help to create own network for few hours, using
mobile you can create hotspot and allow yours internet share other mobile devices.
Internal Devices
• Network interface controller (NIC)
• Wireless Network Interface Controller
• Bluetooth Dongle
External Devices
• Hub
• Switches
• Routers
• Brouters
• Bridges
• Repeater
• Modem
• Gateway
• WIFI-Routers or Broadband Routers
Portable Devices
• WIFI-Hotspot
• Portable Modem Dongle
• Hub
Hub is a centralized device that connects multiple devices in a single LAN
network. When Hub receives the data signals from a connected device on
any of its port, except that port, it forwards those signals to all other
connected devices from the remaining ports. Usually, Hub has one or more
uplink ports that are used to connect it with another Hub.
Pros?

Cons?
• Switches
• A switch serves as a controller, enabling networked devices to talk to each other
efficiently. A switches use to connect computers, printers, phones, cameras,
lights, and servers in a building or campus.
• Just like Hub and Bridge, Switch is also used to connect the multiple devices
together in a LAN segment. Basically, a Switch is the upgraded version of the
Bridge. Besides providing all the functionalities of Bridge, it also offers several
additional features.
• Routers
• When a device in a Local Area Network needs to communicate with a device on
another LAN, it must send that traffic to a specialized device connected to the
LAN called a “router” whose purpose is to find the best path for the message to
take to arrive at the intended target device, and to send the message along its
way following that path.
• Routers are the network devices that route packets between networks. These
Layer 3 devices enable everything from communication between multiple
subnets within the same WAN to the internet connection that allows you to read
this article. A good way to think of routers is this: They are the network device
that deals with IP addresses.
• Modem
• In simple language, a Modem is the device that is used to connect with the
Internet. Technically, it is the device that enables the digital data to be
transmitted over the telecommunication lines.
• A Telco company uses entirely different data transmission technology from the
technology that a PC uses for the data transmission. A modem understands both
technologies. It changes the technology that a PC uses, in the technology which
Telco Company understands.
• It enables communication between the PC (Known as the DTE device) and the
Telecom company' office (Known as the DCE device).
