Introduction To Adobe Flash

Flash is a multimedia platform used to add interactivity, animation and video to web pages. It manipulates vector and raster graphics to provide animation and supports audio/video playback. The Flash interface consists of panels like the Stage, Timeline and Layers to organize objects. The Stage displays objects, the Timeline controls timing and the Layers stack objects. Symbols are reusable objects stored in the Library. Documents are saved for editing and publishing.

Introduction to Adobe Flash

Introduction
• Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia
Flash) is a multimedia platform used
to add animation, video, and
interactivity to web pages. Flash is
frequently used for advertisements
and games.
• Flash manipulates vector and raster
graphics to provide animation of
text, drawings, and still images. It
supports bidirectional streaming of
audio and video, and it can capture
user input via mouse, keyboard,
microphone, and camera. Flash
contains an Object-oriented
language called ActionScript.

FLASH SYMBOLS
Objects in Flash are called symbols and a symbol can be a graphic, a
movie, or a button. Symbols can contain other symbols.

Button Icon
Movie Icon

WHY USE SYMBOLS

Once a symbol is created, it gets stored in the Library and then can be
reused multiple times in the Flash document, without significantly
increasing the Flash document size. Another advantage is that
modifications to the symbol will affect all instances of that symbol on the
Flash stage, which saves time.
SAVE AND SAVE OFTEN
• Before proceeding, save your
document and save often thereafter.
