1. Introduction
•The Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) is needed to optimize
the amount of power obtained from the photovoltaic array to the
power supply.
•This project presents in details implementation of Perturb and
Observe MPPT using boost Converters. Results such as
current, voltage for each various combination have been recorded
and produced.

Algorithms
Two MPPT algorithms were considered:
Incremental Conductance Method
› By comparing incremental conductance with
instantaneous conductance.
Perturb & Observe Method
› By periodically perturbing the PV array voltage and
comparing the output power with that of the
previous cycle. The operating point oscillates around
the MPP since the system is continuously perturbed.

DC-DC Converter
• DC-DC converter needed for two reasons
– To implement the MPPT algorithm
– To bring the DC voltage to an acceptable level to
power the load
The above graph in the figure shows the performance curve for the Current Vs.
Voltage and Power Vs. Voltage for a Solar PV panel. It is necessary as it is a measure
for checking the reliability of the Solar panel. This simulations can be used for various
sole performance analysis of the Solar panel.
CONCLUSION
In the Present Work, the maximum power point tracking is successfully carried out by this
research using perturb and observe method. The PV module working on photovoltaic effect
actually improves the system efficiency. Compared to other methods of maximum power
point tracking, the perturb and observe method seems to be easy for the optimization of the
photovoltaic system using buck boost converter. By varying the duty cycle of the boost
converter, the source impedance can be matched to adjust the load impedance which
improves the efficiency of the system.
FUTURE SCOPE
The project can be implemented in Incremental Conductance method and Parasitic Capacitance
method for the result analysis to get higher efficiency and power output.
In future, this approach can be applied for tracking the Maximum Power Point without using any
type of controller. Hence, reducing the cost and increasing the efficiency of the system. The basic
advantage of only using Perturb and Observe method is that when it is properly optimized it can
offer very high Maximum Power Point Tracking efficiency, which is highly competitive against
other Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms.
