Lesson Exemplar
Lesson Exemplar
OBJECTIVES
1. Internalize the concept of lesson exemplar.
2. Appreciate the why and how of writing lesson exemplar.
• Examplars include, among others, pre-assessments given at the beginning of a unit to assess
what students already know; formative assessments given to inform instruction and assess
how students are progressing; and culminating or summative assessments given at the end
of the unit to assess student understanding.
• Teachers and administrators have found exemplars to be powerful way of reporting student
performance based on standards by the Department of Education, in a manner that teachers
begin to understand standards and performance assessment. (Belgina C. Lumbang)

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
Objectives must be specific, congruent and/or anchored on the learning competency
Tasks to be taken before, during and after the lesson must be engaging.
Activities used in the lesson are contextualized in such a way that the learners shall be able
to understand thoroughly the concept/skill being developed.
Every part in the exemplar under the learning tasks will make use of specific activity/ies
that will serve as an avenue to help students gradually develop and fully understand the
concept/skill.
It is essential to put emphasis on the three (3) types of learning activities to cater the
different levels of learning needs of students such as the easy, average and difficult.
