ANSWER THE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

How can you infer the birth of various contemporary art forms in our
country?

Seira was a blithe and easy-going girl during her childhood. She did not care much for the
outcomes of her actions and therefore enjoyed her younger years without worries and regrets; however,
as she grew older, she understood that adapting to her environment and surroundings was a must. Seira,
still a very fun person, was much more reasonable and more calculative of her actions in order to adjust
to her new world. After her working days, Seira once again changed to accommodate her new age and
became a wiser and more caring elder while still being the cheerful girl she once was.

Through countless generations, a multitude of art forms emerge, transform, and resurface
following drastic changes that accompanies the inevitable movement of time. Similar to Seira and other
art forms before it, contemporary art is a product of its surroundings and circumstances dipped into its
own unique context. Context is the most important factor in describing the birth of contemporary art
forms in the Philippines.

Contemporary Philippine Art are the arts developed and accumulated in the country from the
beginning of civilization up to the present. These art forms came into being through different means.
Some art forms were made to be used in their everyday lives like the vacul, which is a headgear made by
Ivatans to protect them from the scorching heat of the sun while farming. Art forms were also made to be
used during a specific time of the year like the maskara during the Maskara Festival in Bacolod. Other art
forms are born due to the advancements of technology in our civilization such as digital arts which
became more prevalent as technology becomes more of a necessity in out society.

How can you advocate our various contemporary art forms from different
regions?
Art forms made by various groups from different regions of our country have a wide scope of
history and stories which means that each art forms should be advocated in unique ways in accordance to
how the art forms were made, why they were made, what they were made from, and so on.

In order to reach our goal of letting the whole country know about the many contemporary art
forms, we should view the knowledge regarding these art forms not as an exclusive for the those who are
familiar with it, but to the ordinary people. If possible, the best way to advocate the various
contemporary arts from the different regions is to use technology as a medium of advertisement.
Technology has now become a one of the most important necessity in our society as about 73 million
Filipino people have access to the internet and have access in various social media platforms. It would be
best to advocate for these contemporary arts through the social media platforms like Facebook,
Instagram, Twitter, etc. If the government is able to, a plan to build more museums in the metro to be a
representation of the various contemporary art forms is a also an amazing way to build a physical
advertisement for the artworks. Light-hearted documentaries and interactive visuals are also a good
addition to the museums.

How will you show appreciation to the various contemporary art forms in
our country?

“Action speaks louder than words”

In order to appreciate the various contemporary art forms of our country, the best way to do this
is to visit the place of their origin and learn it. In order to truly appreciate an art, we need to study why it
was made, how it was made and what is the history of the specific artwork. Although there are more
ways to show appreciation, going to where the art is made and conversing with the masters of their crafts
is the best way to appreciate their masterpiece.

One of the best way to appreciate our contemporary arts is to advertise it to other people. Being
the only one to know the beauty of our contemporary arts is damaging to the survivability of said arts.
Letting others know for them to appreciate the contemporary art themselves is also a great way to show
love for the contemporary arts. This can be achieved by using the best asset of this generation –
technology. By using social media to advertise the contemporary art forms, it will be able to reach more
people in a shorter amount of time compared to other ways of advertising it.
