Information System
 An Information system is a formal, sociotechnical, organizational system
designed to collect, process, store, and distribute information. In a
sociotechnical perspective, information systems are composed of four
components: task, people, structure (or roles), and technology.
Daraz
 Daraz is an online marketplace and logistics company that operates in
markets of South Asia and Southeast Asia. It was founded in 2012 as an e-
commerce website in Pakistan by Muneeb Maayr (Founder) & Farees Shah (Co-
Founder) at the German-based Venture Capital, Rocket Internet. Then Daraz
expanded its e-commerce marketplace in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar,
and Nepal also.
 Daraz established its e-commerce marketplace in Bangladesh in 2015. Soon it
gained a huge amount of popularity among the youth and became the number
one e-commerce platform in Bangladesh. More than 5 million users of daraz in
Bangladesh. It is a trusted e-commerce website for product and cash on
delivery.

Analysis of IS Operation
 An Information System can be defined as a set of interrelated elements or components that collect,
manipulate and store and disseminate data and information as well as a feedback mechanism.

For any company to run a successful business, one needs to invest in high-quality information systems that
will simplify processing data and statistics, either organizational or financial. Most companies have
experienced data problems caused by lack of accuracy and reliability, and as a result, the workflow slows
down. The primary goal for all companies is to reduce human errors and increase efficiency. To be able to
achieve such goals, any company has to get an excellent information system.

A quality IS operation will do the following:

• operate at an acceptable cost, commensurate with the value produced for the firm;

• meet carefully defined performance standards (such as response time and system availability);

• produce accurate , reliable output ;

• be easy to learn and use;

• be flexible and fast decision making capabilities .


Effective ways to improve IS operation of Daraz

 Daraz is one of the most popular online retailers in Bangladesh. However, there is a lot of
competition but daraz stands top for their efficiency in the online market. Their expansion is
noticeable in Asia and surely they will expand more in near future. As daraz is already a leader in
online retail Bangladesh there are still numerous ways to improve upon their IS operation.
Some of the recommendations are-
1. In e-commerce, it is very important to be prompt. Customers choose e-commerce so that they can
save time. So, the whole process needs to be really quick. Fast response and issue solving will
satisfy the customers with the process. 
2. Customer service should be provided enough information about the product. Because if he/she is
unable to answer queries about the product, the customer will lose his/her trust on the site and will
doubt the product quality.
3. Daraz turnover rate is high so more permanent employees need to be increased as well as more
facilities to employees need to be given.
Conclusion
 In the end of our report on Daraz information system analysis, we can assure
that we now have a better understanding about information systems. We
learn about IS software/modules, hardware elements and IS operations. We
also learned how to operate an IS operation and what kind of skills needed to
operate an Is operation. We learn how to improve an organization’s
performance by just improving its IS operations.
