way. -Mavis Mazhura Do you recognize the emotion you are feeling? Can you manage those feelings without EMOTIONAL allowing them to swamp you? INTELLIGENCE Can you motivate yourself to get jobs done? Do you sense the emotions of others and respond effectively? • Emotional intelligence refers to the capability of a person to manage and control his or her emotions and possess the WHAT IS ability to control the emotions of others as well. In other EMOTIONAL words, they can influence the emotions of other people also. INTELLIGENCE • Emotional intelligence is a very important skill in leadership. It is said to have five main elements such as - self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. • In 1990 : Peter Salovey and john D.Mayer describing it as “a form of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor BREIF HISTORY one’s own and others’ feelings and emotions, to discriminate among them, and to use this information to guide one’s OF thinking and action” EMOTIONAL INTEELIGENCE • In the 1990’s Daniel Goleman became aware of Salovey and Mayer’s work, and this eventually led to his book, Emotional Intelligence.
