INTRODUCTION

 In November 2005,Infosys Technoligies Ltd.,


based in Bangalore was named as “ the best
company to work for in India“ , by business
today magazine in its survey.

 In the ”best employer” survey conducted by


dataquest-IDC,in 2006,Infosys was adjudged
as “the dreamed company to work for”.

 Infosys was also recognised globally and


featured among the top 100 companies in
employee satisfaction by Computerworld’s
–’Best places to work for IT’

 The employees attrition rate is going on


decreasing year by year.

 These all were possible only by best HR


practices followed at Infosys Technologies
Ltd.
Introduction ….a background note
 Infosys was incorporated as Infosys Consultants
Private Ltd., on July 02, 1981 by a group of seven
professionals amongst which Narayanmurthy is
well known.

 One of its first clients was Reebok-US based


shoe manufacturer.

 It was started in those days when computers


required an import license in India,as the
economy was not so liberalised.

 It focussed on acquiring domain knowledge in


segments like retail, finance, distribution and
telecommunication.

 It is the 1st company to implement Employee


Stock Option Plan in 1994.

 It is the first company to value its human


resources.

Recruitment process
at Infosys….
Recruitment ….
 They take care to identify the right candidates.

 Planned to hire 70% of college students and 30% of


lateral workers.

 Candidates skills are checked in interview panel ,


reapplying period is 9 months.

 “Securing job in Infosys is more tuffer than getting


admission in Harward university.”

 It used RMS(Recruitment Management Systems).

 About 41% of client facing teams are non-


Indians,2% of Infoscions are non-Indians.
Recruitment..
 Experienced personnel are recruited in higher
and specific posts.

 Foreign matkets sales and client servicing


employees are recruited locally.

 In 2006, Infosys planned to hire 25000,planned to


hire people from 17 countries.

 The programs followed are..


> Instep.
> Global talent program.
> Campus connect.

 The company had skipped campus recruiting in


view of the global economy slowdown but is
now looking at training about 18,000 of its
employees under the extended mode till
January 2010, says S Gopalakrishnan

 Ongoing process.

 Trains employees to get best possible solution at


any situation.

 Infosys spent near about 6.7% of its revenue on


training.

 An in-house E&R Department was established in


1991.

 By 1999,E&R offered more than 240 courses , also


in foreign languages.

 New recruits are trained at Global education


Centre , Mysore .

 The new employees are trained on culture and
value system of Infosys.

 The employees will be equipped with skills for


challenging career in software.

 Experienced employees are also trained in four


areas …

> technical
>managerial & skills
> domain
> process quality

 Need for MDP are assessed through performance


appraisal

 Every year 1000 employees are trained by E&R.


Performance Appraisal…

 Performance appraisal carried twice a year.

 They mainly use 360 degree performance appraisal.

 They introduced deffered compensation scheme to


help in stemming attrition.

 They started reward system on individual


performance basis from 2006.

 They introduced incentives based on three tires


performance.

 Mutual learning(brainstorming)

 Milestone programme.

 Communication between employees and top


boss.

 Brown bag lunches.
