AC Resonence Test Set
AC Resonence Test Set
Set Introduction
Application and diagram
1 Resonance Test Set is applied to test the insulation withstand of
capacitive specimen Such as cable, Transformer bushes, GIS and
also on
2 The main advantage are as follow:
2.1 The output capacity is very high but the size and weight is still
acceptable for testing
2.2 The power consumption is low compared with testing capacity
on the specimen
2.3 Safety and fast protection. System trip off automatic when
there is breakdown
2.4 Easy operation and installation for on site testing
Application and diagram
The diagram of HYXZ is based on induct-capacitive circuit
resonance effect. When the frequency f of power source makes
2*PI*f=1/Root(LC).
Then the voltage specimen would be much more than the output
of excitation transformer while the current of specimen similar to
current flowed from excitation transformer HV winding

Inductors Lm and HV Capacitor divider
Diagram of Resonance Test Set
1 The L of resonance calculation formula 1/root(LC) means the
total induct value installed on the HV circuit
2 The C of resonance calculation formula 1/root(LC) means the
total capacitor value include specimen capacitor value and HV
divider capacitor value
3 The approximate capacitor value of specimen should be
calculated before test. So that how many inductors should be
installed can be determined before test. The calculated resonance
frequency f should be between the valid range of power source
After finish installation and connection. Switch on the power supply wil get
the main menu on LCD. Click “Set” to enter setting menu.
Parameters Setting Window
Click the data input textbox. There will be a small keypad popup. Click at
the digitals and then click at enter the value of textbox will be changed to
be the new one
Parameters Setting Window- Test voltage
“test voltage” means the withstand test voltage applied to specimen, The max test
voltage of the device is the voltage value marked on the nameplate of the equipment.
The new inpputed test voltage shall not exceed the maximum voltage, otherwise it will
reduce equipment measuring accuracy or damage the device directly.
Parameters Setting Window-Alarm voltage
Alarm voltage means the protection voltage when the test voltage reach
alarm voltage. Tester will be trip off automatic. Normally the “Alarm
voltage” is higher 10~20% than “Test Voltage”
Parameters Setting Window- Alarm current
Withstand time means the testing time of test voltage applied to specimen
Tuned voltage setting
Tuned voltage means the initial output voltage of power source used to detect which
frequency is the resonance frequency. Normmaly For low Q value and high capacitance
test specimen, such as cable, generator, motor, the initial value is set to 30 ~ 40V. For
high Q value and low capacitance test specimen, such as power transformer,GIS,busbar,
the initial value is set to 10 ~ 20V.
Flashover Factor set interface
Flashover factor is applied to detect the breakdown of specimen. When there is a breakdown
in specimen. The HV circuit will lose resonance immediately so the output high voltage at
specimen will be fluctuations. That can be detected by the control unit to determine whether
there is a breakdown. Normally the flashover factor is generally set at 10~20%.
Tuned Frequency setting
Tuned frequency setting means to set the frequency range which test set will be using
to search the resonance frequency value. If auto test or auto tuned mode is enabled the
test set will generate initial tuned voltage at the beginning frequency of this range and
then rise to the end. To find the maximum HV value as the resonance frequency
Capacitance data setting
Click “Return” on the parameters setting window. All adjuted parameter s will
be saved and test set return to main menu.
Attention: Please check carefully whether your current parameters setting is
correct before run test
Test Operation step
Automatic test
Automatic Interface
In order to find the exact resonance frequency, The tuned procedure is divided into two
steps: rough tuning and fine tuning, both are proceed automatically, only completed
tuning, It can automatically enter the next interface.Because it is tuned at low voltage, the
resulting high voltage will not cause any damage to the specimen. The automatic tuning
time will not exceed 3 minutes in maximum
Voltage rise and withstand curve interface
Click “Start”, then proceed with manual/automatic tune to find the extact
resonance frequency. And then manual control voltage rise and fall
Semi-automatic test
When the test voltage exceeds the preset alarm voltage, a striking alarm
will appear at the lower right corner.
Test completed interface
After test is end and voltage is fall to zero. Click return button
return to the main menu.
Enter main menu and click “File”button, click “ Last Group” “Next Group”,to recall
test record. Insert U disk and then click “Data uploading”, then all the test records
will be saved into the U disk.
Print of test records
Print
Click “Single-P printed”,The present display data is printed.
Click “ Multi-P printed”, The multi-page print screen will enter as above.
