• The word technology comes from the Greek
words “techne” and “logos”. 
• Techne means art, skill, craft, or the way,
manner, or means by which a thing is gained. 
• Logos means word, the utterance by which
inward thought is expressed, a saying, or an
expression.
What is • Merriam-Webster says technology is:

technology? “Application of knowledge to the practical aims of


human life or to changing and manipulating the human
environment.
Technology includes the use of materials, tools,
techniques, and sources of power to make life easier or
more pleasant and work more productive.
Whereas science is concerned with how and why
things happen, technology focuses on making things
happen.”

industry that the Industrial Revolution brought through
industrialization to an economy primarily based
upon information technology.

LIFE .
Universal Translator
 It is a device common to many science fiction
works it basically converts conversations in an
alien language into English instantaneously
and in the voice of the speaker.
 Initially it has many limitations :
i) Translation imprecise.
ii) Rule based translation.
 Then came statistical machine translation. Ex-
google translate and Bing.
 Now due to deep neural machine translation
we are slowly transitioning to learning systems
that can achieve a higher level of accuracy
Clean water
• There are 75 million people who do
not get drinking water and about
half a million people die of
Diarrhoea caused by contaminated
drinking water everyday according
to WHO.
• A waste treatment contraption call
the Omni processor funded by Bill
gates and which turns the moisture
is evaporated and human waste into
drinking water.
Sustainable Packaging

• Around 60% of the 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic


produced since the early 1950 has ended up in
landfills are the natural environment according to
the United Nation Environment programme.
• a large part of that is packaging material which is
what were 40% of plastic is used for
• Notpla a London based packaging company has
developed edible parts in such a way out from
seaweed for water uses and ketchup.
QUANTUM
COMPUTING
• Quantum computing is essentially
harnessing and exploiting the amazing laws
of quantum mechanics to process
information.
• A traditional computer uses long strings of
“bits,” which encode either a zero or a one.
A quantum computer, on the other hand,
uses quantum bits, or qubits.
• Quantum computers will lead to vast
improvements in drug delivery , weather
forecasting and supply chain optimization.
5G & Beyond
• 5G the next generation of mobile
network due to this machine will be
able to talk to each other beat your
toaster microwave refrigerator or AC
it will communicate with you or other
devices.
• Areas benefited-transportation traffic
monitoring factories healthcare
delivery smart cities and farms and
entertainment.
• In India the 5G launch might happen
in 2021-22, with auctions likely to be
held this year only.
Technology will keep getting better
and better. It can be good for some
people but bad for others .The future
will hold many more surprises for us

N society. Technology in the future can
help socially, financially and
economically. It will be a world-wide
change and our world will be even
more advanced then it is right now.
