Rework Example
NC – Drill mistakenly made undersize (Observed 16.20
mm against 19.20 mm) because of wrong drill size.
Action Taken – Drilling operation done again with the
right drill size.
Result – Product OK as per original drawing/ standard i.e
19.20 mm. Thus, Rework
Definition of Repair
Repair
action on a nonconforming product to make
it acceptable for the intended use.
Note - It can be that in conjunction with a
repair a concession is required.
Repair Example
NC – Nut not properly welded, came out
Action Taken - Two additional welding joint
Result - In drawing / standard - only two welding
points required, but we end-up having four joints.
Here, no issue in the usage (intended use). Thus,
called Repair
NC - Drilling of a hole in the wrong place
Action Taken - Drilling of hole in the right place
while plugging the hole in the wrong place.
Result - Extra plugging hole NOT as per standard /
drawings. Although, product can be used. Thus,
