Teleoncology What Is It All About?: Prepared By-Shivika Bisen (09Bmd011) Ashita Paliwal (09Bmd006)

Teleoncology involves using videoconferencing technology to provide cancer care to patients remotely. It can reduce travel burdens and costs, facilitate early cancer detection, and provide consultations for patients in rural areas. Teleoncology works by setting up video conferencing between cancer experts in cities and local clinics. Experts can remotely consult with and advise patients. India's first teleoncology network, called ONCONET, was established in 2003 and connects regional cancer centers to peripheral clinics via satellite connectivity. It provides online access to cancer statistics and an oncology resource center. Recent advances include mobile teleoncology units that can provide cancer services in remote areas.
