Operational Customer Applications
Component Description
The Marketing Operations subject area covers metrics around product and channel strategy, pricing and promotions, and
campaign management. Users monitor product sales performance across their channels (web store, retail locations, partners,
etc.) and identify ways to optimize the product mix and customer experience across each channel. Customer profitability across
Marketing
1 channels is also managed here, through analysis of the variable costs required to service the customer in each channel, and
Operations
customer preferences. Marketing campaigns are also managed with metrics to track the return on investment (ROI) for each
campaign and minimize wasted marketing spend. Using input from these areas, pricing and promotions are managed with the
goals of aligning them with product demand and profitability.
The Sales Enablement subject area covers metrics around opportunity and lead management, pricing and quoting, and sales
compensation. Opportunities and leads are tracked through customer relationship management tools (CRM) to enable regular
Sales engagement and an increased close rate. Data is gathered on those leads to gain insights into segmentation, creditworthiness,
2 Enablement and propensity to buy, as well as identify any relationships to the existing customer base. A focus on resource effectiveness is
also included, to optimize allocation of resources across their key functions. Sales compensation is analyzed to identify more
effective ways to incentivize sales performance and promote growth.
The Order Management subject area covers metrics around invoicing and receivables, point of sale, and order fulfillment.
Order Receivables performance is monitored to better manage delinquent accounts and customers with poor credit, as well as
Management identifying and focusing on customer segments where there is minimal need for credit. Point of sale and other channel orders are
3 synchronized with capacity to ensure orders are being fulfilled and customer demand is being met adequately.
The Customer Service subject area covers metrics around warranties and entitlements, case management, and add-on sales.
Through analysis of warranties and customer entitlements, patterns are identified to better predict quality issues and anticipate
Customer customer needs. Through improvements in customer service gained through effective case management, the customer
Service experience can be improved for the lifecycle of their purchased product to increase the chance of a repeat purchase. Through

Component Description
The Sales & Order Management subject area covers Order fulfillment metrics that measure inventory availability and
successful shipment of orders at the customer’s Branch Plant on or before the customer’s Original Promise Ship Date.
Included are metrics that quantify customers’ impact by backorders. The metrics in this subject area represent levels of
Sales & Order
1 customer satisfaction with the orders or order lines included on these metrics have not been on backorder, i.e., were
Management
available to be shipped to the customers on the date that was originally promised to the customer. The prebuild model also
handles the back order tracking by the following: items, location (branch plant) where the order (or demand) was
registered, customers affected by the shortage of inventory, and the date when shipment was requested.
Allows the user to determine how many months, weeks, or days it takes to deplete the available inventory using different
types of demand. These metrics help track available inventory. Inventory coverage is different from inventory at risk in that
it informs the users about current inventory and its usage, as opposed to risk reports that predict inventory that will be
wasted within a time period based on current inventory and demand. Inventory profile reports provide an overview of the
Inventory different inventory categories at all locations. Inventory categories include: on Hand, In Transit, Physical inventory, Net
Management Available, Backorders, BO Past Due, Future Commit, Hard Commit, Soft Commit, Current inventory Position, On Order,
2
On Hold, Consignment, Expired, Short Dated, Excess and Obsolete. All manufactured items have an expiration date and a
pull date. A pull date is defined as the date an item would have to be sold to customers before the expiry date. Using these
two dates, calculations are used to determine if the inventory that is at risk of being wasted if not consumed within a
specific time limit. Measuring risk will help reduce waste and financial impact of unconsumed inventory.
The Metrics in the Logistics subject area allows to look into the granular visibility of the transportation spend of the
companies so that they can manage and control it more effectively. The KPI and Metrics identify negative trends in costs
and performance of the transpiration areas and identify root causes to take corrective and preventive action. 'what-if'
Logistics &
analyses to evaluate the service and cost trade-offs of different transportation strategies and tactics. This subject area
Distribution
covers the vendor management, Receiving, Inter-Company transfer, Domestic shipment and on the carrier management
3
side it manages Factors such as on-time delivery, tender acceptance rate, and meeting capacity commitments are
assigned metrics and weighted averages to help users determine how well carriers are performing overall.
The procurement subject area covers obtaining products and services from suppliers. It includes decisions about how
much and when to purchase goods and services, the actual purchasing of goods and services, and the process of
receiving the requested goods or services. The purchasing cycle ensures that the appropriate quantity and quality of
equipment, material, supplies, or services are acquired at the best price and from the most appropriate source. The
Procurement metrics in this subject area include activities and information, including receiving transactions, order revision data,
supplier profiles, accounts payable status, special order processing, and the tracking of incoming purchases through
4 receipt routing. The prebuild model also handles the multi shipment schedule per PO line, assess supplier performance in
service, price and quality, rank suppliers by item and service they provide, Receiving efficiencies and analyze the complex
pricing structure.
10 Consists of capabilities to perform metadata integration across the architecture. Metadata captures technical, business
Metadata and operational metadata across the Supply Chain information landscape. The collected metadata is stored in the
Management (MME) metadata repository for access by various processes and components of the architecture and provides contextually-
relevant definitions and descriptions of the Supply Chain data as well as complete traceability of each element’s lineage.
11 Comprises a centralized, shared-service application resources and processes that support the creation, maintenance,
syndication, and orchestration of Supply Chain-related business logic and operational processes across the Supply Chain
Rules & Process
architecture. This includes Business Rules Management (e.g. Inventory Allocation, Supply Chain Data Quality), Analytic
Management
Model Management (creation, validation, and deployment of analytics models), and Business Process/Workflow
Management.
12
Encompasses the various capabilities associated controlling and monitoring access to applications and data contained
Data Security &
within the Supply Chain architecture. This includes providing granular protection of certain data based on policies, data
Privacy (DSP)
redaction/encryption, tokenization and authentication and authorization capabilities.
13
Plant & Warehouse Applications that support plant and warehouse management such as intercompany transfer, domestic shipment,
20 Management System shipment details, and plant asset management.
Applications that support business scenario modeling, value and performance driver modeling, performance
21 Strategy
targeting, and product innovation.
Supply Planning Applications that support supply planning and forecasting such as budgeting and planning, supply planning,
22 & Forecasting performance measurement and profitability, and inventory position.
