INTRODUCTION
 The word “entrepreneur” is derived from the French verb
“enterprendre”. It means “to undertake” or “to take in
between”. The word “Entrepreneur” was first coined by
Richard Cantillon (1775).
 An enterprise is created by an entrepreneur.
 The process of creation of an enterprise is known as
entrepreneurship.
 In entrepreneurship, there is agreement that we are talking
about a kind of behavior that includes:
1. Take an Initiative;
2. The organizing or reorganizing of social economic
mechanisms to turn resources and situations to practical
account; and
3. The acceptance of risk or failure.
MEANING OF
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
 Entrepreneurship is the process of designing,
launching and running a new business, which is
often initially a small business.
 Entrepreneurship has been described as “The
capacity and willingness to develop, organize and
manage a business venture along with any of its
risks to make a profit.”

 Entrepreneur is an agent.
 Entrepreneur is a risk taker.
 Entrepreneur is a profit maker.
