Definition

• Definition: Occupational health and safety is concerned


with fostering the safety, health and welfare of people
engaged in work or employment.

• Meaning: To promote health and well being of people


employed in a work environment against Occupational
diseases. To promote the safety at work place for
employees.

• The laws and regulations are enforced to prevent


workplace illnesses, accidents, injuries, and fatalities.
ACCIDENT
 Any un planned event that interferes with ordinarily
progressed activity.
 All accidents do not necessary cause personnel injuries.

HAZARD

 Any condition that may result in the occurrence


or contribution to the severity of an accident

RISK

 Is a statistical concept and expresses the probability of


potential of substances or condition to cause harm.

 Accident due to Un-safe acts - 88 %
