Topic - Probability of Dependen Event PPT 2

The document discusses probability of dependent events. It defines dependent events as finding the probability of event A multiplied by the probability of event B given that event A occurred. Examples are provided of calculating probabilities of dependent events without replacement, such as the probability of picking different fruits from a basket in a certain order. Students are assigned probability word problems to solve involving dependent events without replacement.

REVIEW
TOPIC: PROBABILITY OF
DEPENDENT EVENTS
GOALS:
1) Recall the definition of dependent
events;
2) Find the probability of dependent
events; and
3) Relate dependent in real life
Probability of Two Dependent Events
The find the probability of two dependent
events A and B, multiply the probability of
event A by the probability of event B given that
event A has occured.
In symbols: P(AՈB)= P(A) x P(B│A).

in his school bag. What is the probability that
Nick picked a red ballpen on the first pick,
without replacement, a blue ballpen on the

There are 5 red roses, 3 yellow roses, and 8
white roses in a tray.
If Roxanne picked 2 roses one after the other
without replacing, then what is the probability
of picking a white rose first and a red rose
next?
