Introduction To Robotics

This document provides an introduction to robotics, including an overview of the basics and components of robots. It discusses sensors, microcontrollers, and programming languages used to control robots. It also outlines several example robot projects, such as obstacle avoiding robots, Bluetooth controlled robots, line following robots, and Sumo robots. The document then discusses the definition of robotics, parts of a robot including its brain, actuators, and sensors. It also outlines the three laws of robotics. Finally, it briefly discusses different types of robots including industrial, educational, domestic, mobile, line following, and obstacle avoiding robots.

ROBOTICS
• Robotics is
science of
designing or
building an
application of
robots.
what is a robot?

• Any automatically
operated machine
that replaces
human effort,
though it may not
resemble human
beings in
appearance or
perform functions
in a humanlike
manner.
Parts of a robot
Robots have 3 main components:
• Brain - usually a computer .
• Actuators and mechanical parts -
motors, pistons, grippers, wheels, gears.
• Sensors - vision, sound, temperature,
motion, light, touch, etc.
laws of robotics

• A robot must not injure a human being or,

through inaction, allow a human being to
come to harm.
• A robot must always obey orders given to
it by a human being, except where it would
conflict with the first law.
• A robot must protect it's own existence,
except where it would conflict with the first
or second law.
types of robot
industrial robot:
material handling
welding
inspection
improving productivity
laboratory application
types of robot
educational robot:
robotic kits are used
extensively in education
e.g: robo soccer ,lego
robots etc
types of robot
domestic robot:
 household tasks
 modern toys
types of robot
mobile robot:
robots that move around
on legs,track or wheels
they can either be
autonomous or remote
controlled
some common types of educational
robots
LINE FOLLOWING ROBOT:
• It is basically a robot which follows a particular
path or trajectory and decides its own course of
action
some common types of educational
robots
OBSTACLE AVOIDING
ROBOT:

• An Obstacle Avoidance
Robot is an intelligent
robot, which can
automatically sense and
overcome obstacles on
its path.
