Care of Patient With Fever

Fever, or pyrexia, is an abnormal rise in body temperature above 37°C and can be caused by infections, medications, heat stroke, dehydration, or rheumatoid arthritis. Symptoms of fever include shivering, lack of appetite, sleepiness, sweating, and feeling cold. When caring for a patient with fever, it is important to encourage hydration, avoid overdressing, give NSAIDs like aspirin for severe cases, and administer antibiotics if an infection is suspected.
