Cot 1 Ready

This document discusses the system requirements for visual graphics, including the typical parts of a computer system unit like the motherboard, processor, RAM, hard drive, and video card. It then explains different graphic file formats, distinguishing between raster formats like JPEG, PNG, and BMP, and vector formats like PDF and SVG. The document concludes with objectives and rubrics for a digital photography assignment focused on capturing beauty spots around the school.

System requirements for visual graphics
A typical desktop computer
consists of a computer system
unit, a keyboard, a mouse, and
a monitor. The computer system
unit is the enclosure for all the
other main interior components
of a computer. It is also called
the computer case, computer
chassis, or computer tower.

Parts of system unit
A power supply is a hardware component of
a computer that supplies all components in
a computer with power.
Parts of system unit
Motherboard A motherboard is one of the most
essential parts of a computer system. It holds together
many of the crucial components of a computer,
including the central processing unit (CPU), memory and
connectors for input and output devices.
Parts of system unit
• Processor (CPU) – it serve as the brain of
computer. A processor is the logic circuitry that
responds to and processes the basic instructions
that drive a computer..
Parts of system unit
• RAM (pronounced ramm) is
an acronym for random access memory, a type of
computer memory that can be accessed randomly;
that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without
touching the preceding bytes
Parts of system unit
• optical disc drive (ODD) is a disc drive that
uses laser light or electromagnetic waves within or
near the visible light spectrum as part of the
process of reading or writing data to or from optical
discs.

• CD - Compact disc
• DVD - digital Versatile disc
Parts of system unit
HARD DRIVE - A hard disk drive (HDD) is a non-volatile
computer storage device containing magnetic disks or
platters rotating at high speeds. It is a secondary storage
device used to store data permanently, random access
memory (RAM) being the primary memory device.
Parts of system unit
HEAT SINK - Computer cooling is required to remove the
waste heat produced by computer components, to keep
components within permissible operating temperature
limits.
Parts of system unit
CMOS BATTERY
CMOS BATTERY (COMPLEMENTARY METAL OXIDE SEMI-
CONDATOR)..
It continuously function even computer is off. It holds the
date and time of computer.
Parts of system unit
Video card
• It refers to the graphics resolution of computer.
Parts of system unit
LAN Card
• It is used to connect the computer into
the network/internet.
EVALUATION: Identify the different parts
of system unit
KEY ANSWER:
1. MEMORY CARD 6. HEAT SINK
2. LAN CARD 7. HARD DISK/HARD DRIVE
3. VIDEO CARD 8. ODD
4. CMOS BATTERY 9. POWER SUPPLY
5. PROCESSOR/CPU 10. MOTHERBOARD
resolution
Refers to the quality, sharpness and clarity of an image. This term is
usually associated with computer monitors, printers and graphic
images.
Image size
The quality of the image is determined by the number of pixels and
depth of color of each pixel. The more number of rows and columns,
the higher the image resolution as well as the memory of file size.
Graphic file formats
• Provide a method of organize and standardize the handling and
storage of [photographic, graphic and other image data.
Two types of graphic/image file formats
Raster Vs. Vector
Raster
• This image formats are the common formats that we wll encounter in the
internet and with many digital image files, such as those coming from our
digital camera.

• Examples
• JPEG – JOINT PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPERTS GROUP
• PNG – PORTABLE NETWORK GRAPHIC
• BMP -BITMAP FILE
• TIFF - TAGGED IMAGE FILE FORMAT
• RAW - RAW IMAGE
• GIF - GRAPHICS INTERCHANGE FORMAT
• PSD - PHOTOSHOP FILE
VECTOR FORMAT
• Are preferred format for those who desire quality prints and display
of image.

• Examples
• PDF –PORTABLE DOCUMENT FORMAT
• ENCAPSULATED POSTSCRIPT
• SCALABLE VECTOR GRAPHCS
• WINDOWS METAFILE
