Aims

• Enhancing students' knowledge about history, culture


and geography of Pakistan.
• To inculcate patriotism in the hearts of students by
underscoring the importance of national integration.
• Inculcating awareness about the current affairs and
important pillars of Pakistan’s political system.
• To provide an in-depth understanding of Pakistan.

Teaching Objectives

• To acquaint students with the significance of Pakistan Studies as a


compulsory subject.
• To familiarize students with the basic concepts of Pakistan’s
ideology.
• To familiarize students with Pakistan movement and historical
events that led to the creation of Pakistan.
• To develop sense of belongingness to homeland.
• To make students aware about their basic rights and responsibilities
as citizens of Pakistan.
• To familiarize students with the current affairs and important pillars
of Pakistan’s foreign policy. 5

system.”
• “Body of ideas concerning economic, social and
political values with positive action program for
attaining these goals.”

objectives and assertions of life.
 Individuals should ideally share common ideology in a
society.
 An ideology offers an interpretation of the past, an
explanation of the present and a vision of the future.

What is Nationalism?
 Difficult to define!
 Essentially European concept
 A consciousness, a sentiment or a sympathy which binds a group of
people together.
 OR The desire of a group of individuals, who are already united by
certain ties, to live together and, if necessary, to die together.
 OR The wish of people who feel that they are one, to go on living as
one.

country studying in a European university was called
“nation”.
 Modern Nationalism is made up of thirteen conditions or
beliefs.
