Assonance (F1 3)

There are three main types of solutions: 1. Diluted solutions have a small amount of solute dissolved in a solvent like a teaspoon of powdered juice in water. 2. Concentrated solutions have a large amount of solute like three tablespoons of powdered juice dissolved in water. 3. Saturated solutions contain as much solute as the solvent can dissolve at a given temperature and pressure, so some solid particles remain undissolved like powdered juice mixed into water until no more will dissolve.

TYPES OF SOLUTION

1. Diluted solution
• formed when a small amount of solute is
dissolved in a solvent

• a teaspoon of powdered juice dissolved in

a glass of water is an example
2. Concentrated Solution
• when large amount of solute is mixed
with a solvent

• when three tablespoons of powdered

juice are dissolved in a glass of water
3. Saturated Solution
• when there is much more solute than the sovent
can dissolve at a specific temperature and
pressure

• when the aximum amount of solute has already

been dissolved, the solvent can no longer
dissolve excess solute.
• thus, some solid particles settle at the
bottom of the container

• For example, when a large amount of

powdered juice is mixed in a glass of water
and no more powdered juice can be added
and dissolved
Classification of Solution on its Final
Phase
• 1. liquid solution- formed by dissolving solid, liquid, or
gaseous solute in a liquid solvent. Examples of liquid
solute are syrup and brine(table salt in water)

2 kinds:

1. miscible- when liquids combine quickly

2. immiscible- do not readily combine in a solution
2. Gaseous Solution- made by mixing two or more gases

Air is an example – a mixture of carbon dioxide, nitrogen,

oxygen and other gases

3. Solid Solution- made by mixing solid with a solid, liquid

or gas.
Ex. Metals
Steels- mixture of Carbon and Iron
Brass- made up of zinc and copper
USES OF SOLUTIONS
• Salt and water solution- add flavor to your food

• liquid soaps and suitable solvents dissolve grease and

stain on your clothes

• beverages like tea, coffee, and soda are examples

• in the process of digestion, the food you eat is changed

into soluble form before the blood distributes or carries it
to the different cells of the body
EVALUATION
• With your materials, demonstrate
the three types of Solution
