Components
PERSONALITY
 Is the embodiment of feelings and
behavior w/c makes man unique
person that he is

 Is the reflection of your inner self

 Is the way an individual is


interrelated through his ideas,
actions, and attitudes.
 Is the conglomeration of the following
components: physical self,
intelligence, character traits,
attitudes, habits, interest, personal
discipline, moral values and principles
of life

 Includes mental, emotional cultural


and physical aspects.
To sum up:
 PERSONALITY  is defined as the
sum total of the qualities and
characteristics of a person as shown
in her manner of walking, talking,
dressing and her attitudes, interest
and ways of reacting to other people.
ASPECTS OF PERSONALITY
Physical
 Includes mode of
dressing, manner
of walking,
posture, body
build, health,
complexion and
facial expression
Intellectual
 A person talks
and what she
talks about is
what matters in
the intellectual
component of
personality.
Social
 Good manners,
correct manners
are included in this
aspect of
personality. To do
and act right and
in proper manner
and to get along
well w/ others
Emotional
 Includes like and
dislikes.
Personality
problems such as
how to stay
mentally healthy
or how to avoid
mental disorders.
Value System
 Includes attitude,
values, beliefs,
and philosophy in
life. This is also
known as
CHARACTER!
COMPONENTS OF PERSONALITY
HABITS
 is a routine of behavior that is
repeated regularly and tends to
occur unconsciously.
 Once habits are formed they are
difficult to unlearn. The habits of
smoking, taking drugs, gambling and
drinking are difficult to unlearn.
ATTITUDE
 "readiness of the psyche to act or
react in a certain way". Attitudes very
often come in pairs, one conscious
and the other unconscious.

toward a person, place, thing, or
event
INTEREST
 a feeling of wanting to learn more
about something or to be involved in
something

 a quality that attracts your attention


and makes you want to learn more
about something or to be involved in

VALUES
 Important and lasting beliefs or ideals
shared by the members of
a culture about what is good or bad
and desirable or undesirable. Values
have major influence on
a person's behavior and attitude and
serve as broad guidelines in all
situations.
PRINCIPLES
 Fundamental norms, rules,
or values that represent what is
desirable and positive for
a person, group, organization,
or community, and help it in
determining the rightfulness or
wrongfulness of its actions. Principles
are more basic
than policy and objectives, and are
meant to govern both
Personality Differences
Heredity

 People are born with a set of genes and


chromosomes inherited from forefathers
and parents. These set the limits to one’s
potential w/c can be achieved to the fullest
by use of one’s environment, experience
and interaction.
Environment

 This consist of one’s family, school,


church, social groups and other
groups with whom one interacts from
the very beginning.
Experiences

 This consist of everything that one


does or get in touch with, everything
that he or she is exposed to in his/her
lifetime, whether physical, emotional
or social experiences
 Remember that you are the
ARCHITECT of your own
PERSONALITY. The more you get
involved in the world and more you
accept its challenges, the greater will
be the opportunities to test out what
you believe to be true about yourself
and build your personality.
