Laying Out and Staking

The document discusses the process of laying out and staking a building site, which involves establishing the perimeter outlines and foundation plan measurements on the ground. This is done by driving stakes into the ground and attaching horizontal batter boards to serve as a reference plane. A level transit instrument is used to transfer points and establish boundaries, while plastic hoses filled with water and strings or cords connect points to lay out horizontal lines.

stake
Are wooden sticks used as posts sharpened at
one end and driven into the ground to serve as
boundaries or support of the horizontal batter
boards.
Batter boards
Are wood stick nailed horizontally to the stake to
serves as the horizontal plane where the building
technical measurements are established. Normally,
batter boards are installed horizontally to an
elevation parallel with the ground floor line.
Level transit
Is the instrument used in relocating and
establishing all reference point, lines and
boundaries of construction of instruction.
Plastic water hose
Is a transparent plastic tube having a diameter of
¼ to ½” filled with water used to establish
horizontal lines. This is a simple but accurate
instrument conveniently used in establishing
