Organize Partition and Understanding Partition

The document discusses disk partitioning and creating a boot partition in Windows 7. It provides the following key points: - Partitioning divides a hard disk drive into logical sections for organizing data and installing multiple operating systems. - The master boot record located in the first disk sector contains code and a table that provide boot instructions. A single disk can have up to four primary partitions or three primary and one extended partition divided into logical partitions. - Disk Management allows initializing disks, creating volumes, and formatting partitions with file systems like FAT, FAT32, and NTFS without restarting the system.

ORGANIZE PARTITION AND

UNDERSTANDING PARTITION
DISK PARTITION

• Partitioning creates a logical file structure

on your hard disk so as to divide various
portions of a hard disk to be used for
different purposes such as a dual operating
systems, storage or organizational purposes.
WHY PARTITION YOUR DISK?

• Security
• Convenience
• Dual Operating System
• The master boot record is the first register that resides in
your hard disk. It is located at the first sector of the disk and the
first program that runs each time you power up your computer.
• The master boot record contains two important structures - the
master boot code and the master partition table. Both provide
instruction and information and how your computer boots up. Due
to its structure, a single hard disk is limited to four primary
partitions.
• One of it will be assigned as the active partition to contain
your operating system. Simply,You can create four primary
partitions, or three primary partitions and one extended
partition which can be subdivided into multiple logical partitions.
DISK MANAGEMENT

• Disk Management is a system utility for managing

hard disks and the volumes or partitions that they
contain. With Disk Management, you can initialize
disks, create volumes, and format volumes with the
FAT, FAT32, or NTFS file systems. Disk Management
enables you to perform most disk-related tasks
without restarting the system or interrupting users.
