Lecture 12 Public Administration and Development 2017

Public administration plays a key role in national development by administering development programs and projects, and by developing administrative systems to better support development goals. Development administration differs from traditional public administration in its emphasis on decentralization, participation, flexibility, and orientation toward socioeconomic change and growth. However, developing countries face many challenges in public administration for development, including outdated colonial structures, lack of resources and technical skills, and weak political commitment to development plans. Reforms are needed to address these issues through decentralization, capacity building, and greater public participation.
