To create a conditional formatting rule, select the cells to format, click conditional formatting, and choose a rule type like highlighting cells that meet certain criteria or using data bars, color scales, or icons to represent values. Preset rules can also be applied by selecting cells, choosing conditional formatting, then selecting a preset like data bars or icon sets.
