PEST Analysis: Katarzyna Bulman

PEST analysis is a framework used to analyze the political, economic, social, and technological factors affecting an organization. It identifies opportunities and threats from these external factors to inform strategy. Political factors include regulations and laws. Economic factors are the economic growth, interest rates, and unemployment. Social factors are demographics, attitudes, and trends. Technological factors are new technologies and spending on research. A PEST analysis helps avoid failures from uncontrollable external forces and spot opportunities from changes in the business environment. While useful, it only analyzes external factors and assumptions may prove unfounded as the environment changes rapidly.
