Static Indeterminacy

The document discusses static indeterminacy in structures. It defines determinate and indeterminate structures based on the number of unknown internal forces or reactions and the number of equilibrium equations. For determinate structures the two numbers are equal, while for indeterminate structures the number of unknowns is greater than the number of equations. It provides formulas to calculate the external, internal, and total static indeterminacy of beams, frames, and trusses based on their support conditions and number of closed loops. A positive total indeterminacy indicates a stable indeterminate structure.
