EWM
Inbound Process Overview
From the ASN/Purchase Order in ERP an inbound delivery is created.
The initial EWM warehouse tasks are generated from the EWM Inbound
Delivery document.
From the initial task or tasks, additional tasks may be created in EWM
based on process and layout storage control.
Another goods receipt process that generates an inbound delivery in
EWM is the Expected Goods Receipt process
The Notification of Expected Goods Receipt (GRN) is created with
reference to either a purchase order or production order in the ERP
system.
It contains a copy of all of the relevant logistics data from the source
document.
In this process, you have to enter the preceding document, and during
saving, the inbound delivery is sent to ERP.
Using master data and customizing settings, EWM determines the
putaway path of each product being received. The putaway path can
include movements to deconsolidation, quality inspection, packing and
value-added services.
1: Putaway
2: Stock Removal
3: Internal Warehouse Movement
4: Physical Inventory
5: Goods Receipt Posting
6: Goods Issue Posting
7: Posting Change
8: Cross-Line Stock Putaway
The warehouse process type can include information about the source
storage type and storage bin for putaway warehouse tasks, and it can
contain the destination storage type and storage bin for picking
warehouse tasks. Other than in SAP ERP WM, no dynamic storage bins
are used in SAP EWM on these interim storage types.
Warehouse Process Control indicator
SAP EWM uses this product master indicator when determining the
warehouse process type during the creation of warehouse request
documents.
In its place, the system uses the EWM availability group code to
determine an EWM stock type. In EWM customizing there is a table
that maps the ERP Plant, storage location and Logical system number
to an availability group code.
The availability group is also the link between stock types in EWM and
the ERP plant and storage location stock. You can have different stock
types in EWM for one storage location in ERP.
You can have different stock types in EWM for one storage location in
ERP.
Partial goods receipt postings can be done per HU, per WT or for a
partial quantity.
After you have posted the goods receipt in EWM, several follow-up
activities and statuses are set:
Goods receipt status is set for the inbound delivery in SAP ECC.
The storage type search sequence code contains the list of storage types
that can be searched for bins. The system assigns the first storage type in
the determined storage type search sequence
If the storage type determined contains more than one storage section,
the system will then proceed to determine the storage section to be
assigned in the destination location.
In storage section determination, the storage type, section indicator from
the warehouse product master and the hazardous attributes are used to
determine the storage section in the determination table.
After the storage section is determined, the system then searches for a
putaway bin for the product quantity to be putaway.
If all of the bins have been searched in the storage type, the system will
then assign the next storage type in the storage type search sequence.
You can also assign a storage bin type to a warehouse product master.
The system will search for bins within the storage type and section that
have this bin type.
For storage section determination, EWM uses the storage section search
sequence.
This sequence specifies in which storage sections the system searches for
destination storage bins.
On the product master, you can group the products using the storage
section indicator (SSI), so that like products will be handled in a similar
way from a storage section placement perspective (for example, slow-
moving vs. fast-moving products). The storage section indicator is then
used (along with other criteria, such as the warehouse number, storage
type, and hazard rating) to determine the storage section search
sequence
To set up the storage section search in the EWM IMG, follow the menu
path Extended Warehouse Management Goods Receipt Process
Strategies Storage Section Search.
In the next step, EWM determines the possible storage bin types
per storage type.
On the storage bin type settings, you specify whether the HU type
is checked during putaway. If it is checked, then the bin type
sequence is determined based on the warehouse number, storage
bin type, and HU type
