Albums
Wretch32 shows us his journey through his album cover, his
first three albums are of him but he isn't looking at his audience
he seems to be shying away from the camera, he doesnt seem
shy he seems more disrespectful as if the audience isn't worth
his time and he is doing this just to make money. It is only in his
fourth album where we se his face this shows the audience that
wretch has matured and realised that music is his passion and
that the audience mean a lot to him. His fifth album young fire
old flame featuring Avelino we see something very different, a
lot of vibrant colours and two fists touching each other, wretch
has done this because in north London culture it is very
common to greet someone who you respect with a fist bump,
as we see in growing over life wretch has continued with the
theme of hands and respect and status.
Growing over life (album
art)
Growing over life Is wretch32 most recent album,
released 2nd September 2016 under record label
universal music LLC.
Looking at wretch32 most recent album cover it actually
tells much more of a story than meets the eye, to
understand the album cover you would have to
understand wretch32 background. The outstretched
hands which are layered on top of each other are
wretch32, his son and his daughters, wretch is on the
bottom holding up the hands of his two children, this
represents a steady foundation and a rock where his
children can lean on in times of trouble. The background
of this album is black, this could represent wretch shady
past and his life growing up in tottenham this is
portrayed in his song open conversation and mark
duggan. The album is called growing over life so the
hands which go from young to old could represent his
personal development and maturing over time and how
he came from one thing and completely turned his life
around and became what he is today to be a good role
model to his children and also the children in the local
area. In the song open conversation and he talks
about how he tries his hardest to look after Mark
duggans children giving them money anytime he sees
them but doesnt feel like its enough.
Article
This article about wretch32 entitled
wretch32: the best rap shows have to
be believable, wretch is talking about
how heartfelt and sincere a
performance determines how much
people will enjoy and respect it. He
explained in this article his best
performances have been when he's
either having a lot of fun on stage or
telling a heartfelt story. This article
portrays wretch32 as a very heartfelt
and sincere artist, It shows me that he
is a strong independent solo act who
has risen from the bottom to the top.
This article leads me to believe that
wretch puts his all into his music and
referring back to the idea that over
time he has matured which we can see
through his various album covers.
How will I include this image in
my video
My video features two couples, this goes with wretch32 theme of family, love
and home. The setting I have chosen to use for my video will be an urban
city/hometown I am doing this because this follows wretch32 theme of
hometowns and citys and staying true to where you came from, I am debating
wether to film some of my video in a tower block for added effect. Wretch32
likes to use a lot of slow motion in his videos so I will incorporate that when I
am filming my video focusing on slowing down the parts where the most love
and affection is shown just so that I can further highlight the theme of my
video. Wretch32 has a few videos where he doesnt use natural lighting but
except uses the lighting to reflect his current emotion this is seen in the video
for ANTWI I have decided not to use this because for the song I have chosen
unnatural and sharp lighting doesnt fit so I will use a natural lighting and
setting for this video.
