THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

He is alone is a right servant
Who is solely concerned with rendering services,
Not with receiving its rewards,
One will never be a true servant, declares Kabir,
Who cannot give selfless service
He alone is a real servant
Who is solely concerned with serving,
Who bears pleasure and pain quite unperturbed
And even continues to serve
A servant duty is to serve, serve

I tested every elixir and I discovered
That none can equal greatness of Nam
A tiny particle revealed within

Narrow indeed is the path of true love
For it can hold one not two,
When I was, the master was not
But now the Master is, I am not
A veritable graveyard is the body
That divine love has never enlivened

Born now as human being, through some mistake
No horns and tails have fastened onto you
