Web 2.0 features integrated within applications (RSS Feeds, Presence Detection, On-Line
Collaboration, Social Networking, Tags)
Contextual Information to support transactions can be easily displayed within the transaction.
Embedded Analytics (BI), in task screens at the point at which the information is needed to
perform task / make decision. (Transactional based BI based on summary tables in the
application.)
Embedded Learning (Help / Tutorials / Video)
UI, and the way in which information is searched and presented is consistent across all
applications.
Grid presentation of information allows far greater flexibility of manipulation. E.g. Excel like
capability to sort / filter / search / display / hide columns / freeze panes etc.
User activity driven by Worklists / Watchlists

Chart of Accounts (COA) Structure
- Fusion has introduced Accounting (COA) Structure to support
multiple Chart of Accounts which is a significant enhancement over
the Chart of Accounts existing in prior releases of EBS R12 & R11i
that supports single Chart of Accounts
- Multiple COAs can be created from a single COA structure to
support different Accounting and Legal Reporting requirements
- Fusion reduces the requirement of several Chart of Accounts
Structures
Oracle Solution Centre
and
Fusion Applications
Business Unit (BU)
- BU is a PeopleSoft concept incorporated into Fusion that supports both
Enterprise model of BUs and EBS modle of Opeating Units
- BU is referred to by the business functions that it performs
- BU represents a unit of enterprise that can be consolidated in both a
managerial and legal hierarchy
Business Functions
- Functions performed by a business unit
- BUs are assigned with the required business functions so as to enable the
underlying processes within the relevant application modules
Fusion Applications
SetID
- SetID is a PeopleSoft concept incorporated into Fusion Suite
- Applications need to be setup with reference data before making them available
for transactions
- In prior releases of EBS R12 & R11i, the extent of sharing reference data is
limited as a large extent of reference data needed to be setup for each
Operating Unit
- Fusion enables sharing a set of reference data across multiple Bus
- Customers can create global (common) and specific sets of reference data and
indicate the sets of reference data to be used for each BU
- Examples of reference data include Payment Terms, Transaction Types, etc.
Oracle Solution Centre
and
Fusion Applications
Reference Accounts
- Reference Account is a GL account associated with a reference object
- Reference Accounts feature is introduced in Fusion to enable reference data
sharing for SetID enabled reference objects that carry accounts as part of
their definition
- In prior releases of EBS R12 & R11i, specific accounting information was
defined for reference objects like Supplier site, Customer Site etc.
- In Fusion, with the introduction of SetID and Reference Accounts feature,
reference objects are assigned account category and are not associated
with GL accounts
Fusion Applications
Date Effectivity
- Date Effectivity refers to date based versioning of the logical objects of
business
- Prior releases of EBS support date based versioning in few applications like
Human Resources, E-Business Tax, General Ledger, etc.
- In Fusion, date effectivity has been incorporated for a large extent of logical
business objects spanning various applications
- Its emphasis is to keep track of effective records (versions) rather than
maintaining the log of changes by users
Fusion Applications
Role Based Access Control (RBAC)
- In Fusion, the Oracle User Management (UMX) group in ATG delivers a
security infrastructure that will closely follow the standard Role Based
Access Control (RBAC) model among other features
- In the UMX model, a role will point to a set of functions and separately point
to a navigation menu that should be used to access those functions
- This navigation menu enables only those functions which have been
granted to the user through the assigned roles
- This model enables to find a function in the same place even if a specific
function has been granted through different roles. An example of this could
be the function to Open Period
Oracle Solution Centre
and
Fusion Applications
Time zone
- In prior releases of EBS R12 & R11i, effective date defaults to
system date based on the server time zone.
- In Fusion, effective date defaults to the system date based on the
preferred time zone of the user. This could be Legal Entity time zone
in most of the cases. However, this date could be based on a time
zone different from LE time zone as Legal Entity is not directly
applicable in GL
