Wireless Application Protocol

WAP is an open standard that allows mobile devices to access the internet. It was created in 1997 to address limitations of mobile devices like low processing power and small screens. The WAP architecture includes components like WAE, WSP, WTP, and WTLS that enable wireless access. WAP uses WML, a markup language based on XML, to create pages for small screens. It allows uses like mobile commerce, banking, billing and entertainment on capable devices over various wireless networks.
