Mastering Cubes: Beginner to Pro

Mastering Cubes from Beginner to Pro

This guide will take you from solving a standard 3x3 Rubik's Cube as a complete beginner to
mastering advanced cubes like 4x4, 5x5, Pyraminx, and Mirror Cube. It includes methods,
algorithms, tips, and a 21-day practice plan.

Part 1: 3x3 Beginner Method (Layer-by-Layer)

1. White Cross: Match white edge pieces with the white center and align them with side centers.
2. White Corners: Insert the corner pieces to complete the white face.
3. Middle Layer: Use edge-piece algorithms to place them in the second layer.
4. Yellow Cross: F R U R' U' F'
5. Yellow Corners: Use R U R' U R U2 R' to position corners.
6. Orient Yellow Corners & Edges: Use final algorithms to align everything.
Practice solving until you reach under 3 minutes.

Part 2: CFOP Method (Speedcubing)

C - Cross
F - First Two Layers (F2L)
O - Orient Last Layer (OLL)
P - Permute Last Layer (PLL)

2-Look OLL (4 basic cases):

- Make a line or L shape, then use: F R U R' U' F'

2-Look PLL (6 cases):

- Position corners: Use A-perm
- Position edges: Use U-perm or Z-perm

Part 3: Solving 4x4 and 5x5

1. Solve centers (create 2x2 blocks)

2. Pair edge pieces
3. Solve like 3x3
Mastering Cubes: Beginner to Pro

Parities on 4x4:
- OLL Parity: (r2 B2 U2 l U2 r' U2 r U2 F2 r F2 l' B2 r2)
These are unique to even-layered cubes and require special steps.

Part 4: Pyraminx and Mirror Cube

Pyraminx:
- Solve tips first, then centers.
- Match edges using simple 3-piece turns.

Mirror Cube:
- Treat as 3x3. Use shape instead of color.
- Build white cross with smallest pieces, then match size layers.

Part 5: 21-Day Practice Plan
