Pennsylvania Department of Education Academic Standards, 3 Grade, History Activity 1 Description/Rationale: Students will choose a US President which will be the subject they will be researching and working on projects for the entire six week History Presidential unit. This first lesson the student will do online research on their chosen President from a website provided by the. This research will be utilized throughout the entire unit but specifically for this first lesson the students will create a timeline using the online web tool X Timeline. Instructional/Behavioral Objectives: 1. Understand how to do research on a given subject. 2. Take information gathered and input information into a timeline. 3. Follow instructions to save information that will be used at the end of the unit. Students will need to gather at least 10 important facts about the US President they choose to input correctly into their timeline. The timeline must include: a)What year the President was born and where. b) What year the President was elected. c) What year the President term ended. The timeline must also include at least one appropriate image from the website provided by the teacher. After students have created their timeline they will publish it online and copy and paste the embed code into a document to save to their Evernote account. This embed code will later be utilized in the final culminating project at the end of the unit.
