Five key features expected to shape the future of tourism in Vietnam:
1. Ambitious Growth Targets: Vietnam aims to welcome 23 million international tourists in
2025, surpassing its pre-pandemic record of 18 million visitors in 2019. By 2030, the country
targets 35 million international visitors and 160 million domestic tourists. This growth
trajectory is projected to contribute 8-9% to the GDP by 2025 and 13-14% by 2030.
2. Sustainable and Green Tourism: Vietnam is focusing on developing tourism as a major
green industry by 2030, emphasizing environmental sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
This includes initiatives to protect natural resources and promote sustainable tourism models.
3. Technological Integration and Modernization: The country is rapidly modernizing its
tourism infrastructure by embracing technology, such as widespread free Wi-Fi and app-based
public transport. These advancements aim to enhance the convenience and experience for
travelers.
4. Development of Cultural and Heritage Tourism: Vietnam is leveraging its rich cultural
heritage to boost tourism. For instance, the central city of Hue is set to host the Visit Vietnam
Year in 2025, promising a significant boost to the local tourism sector.
5. Focus on Domestic Tourism: Recognizing the importance of domestic travelers, Vietnam is
implementing programs to stimulate domestic tourism. The Tourism Development Stimulus
Program in 2025 aims to offer products and services with preferential prices, enhancing
experiences for local tourists.
→ These features reflect Vietnam's strategic approach to developing a robust,
sustainable, and technologically advanced tourism industry that caters to both
international and domestic travelers.
