3.4 membandingkan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan beberapa teks
prosedur lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait resep
makanan/minuman dan manual, pendek dan sederhana, sesuai dengan konteks
penggunaannya.
D. TUJUAN PEMBELAJARAN
1. Mengidentifikasi fungsi sosial dan struktur teks prosedur secara lisan dan tulis
dengan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait resep pendek dan sederhana tentang
makanan/ minuman sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya.
2. Menggunakan unsur kebahasaan untuk menyatakan dan menanyakan tentang resep
makanan / minuman dengan tepat.
3. Mengurutkan teks prosedur berupa resep pendek dan sederhana yang rumpang
dengan baik
4. Menyusun teks prosedure tentang resep pendek dan sederhana tentang makanan/
minuman sesuai dengan struktur teks yang tepat berdasarkan urutan gambar yang
ada (picture series)
5. Menceritakan kembali teks prosedur berupa resep pendek sederhana yang dibaca.
E. MATERI PEMBELAJARAN
1. DEFINITION
Procedure Text is one of the types of English texts or genres that shows a process
of making or operating something. It functions to describe how something is done
through orderly steps.
2. PURPOSE OF PROCEDURE TEXT
The communicative purpose of a Procedure Text is to give instructions on how to
do something through a series of actions or sequential steps.
3. GENERIC STRUCTURE
The generic structure of a Procedure Text consists of three parts, namely:
1. Aim/Goal
The first part of the Procedure Text contains information about the purpose of
making or operating something.
2. Materials
In the second part, the Materials section includes the items or ingredients used in
making something. However, not all Procedure Texts include a materials section—
some Procedure Texts may not have this part at all.
There are three types of Procedural Texts that do not use a materials section, which
are:
Procedural Texts that explain how something works or how to operate something
manually.
Examples: How to use a video game, a computer, a tape recorder, a fax machine,
etc.
Procedural Texts that instruct how to do certain activities along with their rules.
Examples: Road safety rules, video game rules, etc.
Procedural Texts that relate to human habits or behaviour.
Examples: How to live happily, how to succeed.
3. Steps
The steps section contains the actions or sequence that must be followed in order to
achieve the goal mentioned in the Aim/Goal section.
4. LANGUAGE FEATURES
- Imperative verbs (command form): cut, mix, add, boil, stir.
- Action verbs: pour, fry, open, clean, cook.
- Sequence words / time connectives: first, then, next, finally.
- Adverbs: slowly, carefully, quickly.
- Simple present tense: because the instructions are general.
F. CONTOH PROCEDURE TEXT
Honey Lime Soda Ice Cream Pops
Materials:
Ice cream molds
Rambutan
Jelly candies
Lime
Honey
Soda water
Salt
Steps:
First, stir in 1.5 tsp of honey. Add lime juice (1 lime). Put a little salt to make it
taste good. Stir gently until the flavour according to your personal taste. If you like
it sweet, add more honey. If you like it sour, add more lime juice. If the taste is to
your liking, pour in the soda water. Stir slowly, prepare the ice cream mold and put
the jelly candy into it.
Then, put the rambutan fruit into the ice cream mold, the rambutan can be put
directly or sliced into small pieces first. Next, pour the lime honey soda, until the ice
cream mold is full. Close the mold. Put the ice cream mold into the refrigerator, for
about 6 hours until completely frozen. The ice cream is ready to be served, pour a
little honey over the ice cream to make it taste more delicious.
G. ACTIVITY
1. Opening Activities
1) Greetings
The teacher starts the lesson with greeting and ask how they are doing.
2) Attendance
The teacher checks the student’s attendance.
3) Introducing the learning objectives
The teacher briefly explains about what the student will be able to do by the end of
the lesson.
2. Main Activities
1) Building knowledge of the Field (BKoF)
The teacher plays a YouTube video of “ How to a Make Fried Rice”

the students the following questions to activate background knowledge and
vocabulary :
- What is the person doing in the video?
- What are the materials/ingredients used in the video?
- Have you ever made a matcha latte at home?
- What tools did he use?
Then the teacher writes the keywords such as whisk, milk, matcha powder, bowl,
and stir)
2) Modelling of the Text (MoT)
The teacher provides a written example of the procedure text “How to Make Fried
Rice,” then the teacher makes the column, which consists of 3 rows of columns and
asks the students to fill the empty column with the teacher, making sure that the
students understand the text. Then the teacher asks the students to analyze it with
guidance from the teacher and correcting the grammar in the text together.
After that, the teacher highlights the words imperative verbs such as cut, mix, add,
boil, and stir.
3) Joint Construction of the Text (JCoT)
The teacher provides an outline on “How to Fried Rice” then asks the students to
divide into several groups, each group are asked to fill the blank outline. Each group
should present their text and the other should comment on the writing.
4) Independent Construction of the Text (ICoT)
The teacher asks the students to write their own procedure text independently, the
students can choose the following topic:
- How to make a smoothie
- How to make chocolate pudding
- How to make nasi goreng
- How to use a rice cooker
- How to make a sandwich
After that, the students ask their friends and the teacher to get feedback. And each
student should present their text in front of the class.
3. Closing activities
1) The teacher with the students makes the summary/conclusion about the lesson that
the students have learned.
2) The teacher reflecting about the activity that they have learned.

What was easy or difficult for you today?
What did you enjoy about the activity?
3) The teacher briefly explains about what the students will learn in the next meeting
4) The teacher with the students ends the lesson with praying together.
5) Make a procedure text individually according to the tittles below and present it in
front of the class!
