IGCSE Islamiyat - 20 Hadiths with Meaning and Explanation

1. "Actions are but by intention"


Translation: Actions are but by intention, and every man shall have what he intended.
Explanation: If you do something to please Allah, you get rewarded. If your reason is to show off, it won't count.

2. "Islam is built on five"


Translation: Islam is built upon five: Shahadah, prayer, giving zakah, fasting in Ramadan, and Hajj.
Explanation: These are the 5 main duties every Muslim must follow to practice Islam properly.

3. "Allah is pure and accepts only what is pure"


Translation: Indeed, Allah is pure and He accepts only what is pure.
Explanation: You must do good actions with clean money and pure intention for Allah to accept them.

4. "Leave what makes you doubt"


Translation: Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt.
Explanation: Avoid things that feel wrong or unsure, even if others say it's okay.

5. "Leave what doesnt concern you"


Translation: From the excellence of a persons Islam is his leaving what does not concern him.
Explanation: Stay away from gossip and dont get involved in others' matters.

6. "Love for your brother what you love for yourself"


Translation: None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.
Explanation: Treat others how you want to be treated fairly and kindly.

7. "The blood of a Muslim is sacred"


Translation: A Muslims life is not lawful to be taken except in three cases: adultery, murder, or leaving Islam.
Explanation: Islam values life. No one can harm another Muslim unless it's a legal punishment.

8. "Speak good or remain silent"


Translation: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.
Explanation: Only say what is kind or helpful or stay silent.

9. "Do not become angry"


Translation: A man asked the Prophet for advice. He said: Do not become angry. (repeated)
Explanation: Anger leads to bad behavior. Control it to avoid hurting others.

10. "Be in this world like a traveler"


Translation: Be in this world as if you were a stranger or traveler.
Explanation: Don't get too attached to this life. The real goal is the next life.

11. "Help your brother, oppressor or oppressed"


Translation: Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or oppressed.

12. "Allah looks at hearts and deeds"

Translation: Modesty is part of faith.
Explanation: Being respectful, humble, and decent is an important part of being a Muslim.

14. "Love the Prophet more than anyone"


Translation: None of you will believe until I am more beloved to him than his father, children, and all people.
Explanation: True faith means loving and following the Prophet fully.

Translation: Seeking knowledge is a duty on every Muslim.

16. "Actions judged by their endings"


Translation: Indeed, actions are judged by the last deeds.
Explanation: It's important to stay good until the end of your life, not just in the beginning.

17. "The world is a prison for the believer"


Translation: The world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever.
Explanation: Believers may have a hard life, but their reward is in the afterlife.

18. "Cleanliness is half of faith"


Translation: Cleanliness is half of faith.
Explanation: Stay physically clean and keep your heart clean from bad thoughts too.

19. "Strong person controls anger"


Translation: The strong person is not the one who can wrestle, but the one who controls himself in anger.
Explanation: Real strength is being calm and patient, not fighting.

20. "Every good deed is charity"


Translation: Every act of kindness is charity.
Explanation: Even a smile or removing something harmful from the road is a form of charity.
