❖ S.S. Priyavadhana, a visually impaired woman has been appointed as odhuvar of the

❖ A Joint Expedition Team comprising the instructors from the country’s premier
mountaineering institutes successfully scaled Mount Everest (8,848.86 m).
o The mountaineering institutes are Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter
Sports (JIM&WS) Pahalgam, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Uttarkashi, and
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) Darjeeling.
❖ The Ministry of Railways has approved the launch of a new train service between Agartala
(Tripura) and Guwahati (Assam).
❖ The Two Indian peacekeepers - Brigadier General Amitabh Jha and Havildar Sanjay Singh
were posthumously awarded the prestigious Dag Hammarskjöld Medal of UNGA.
❖ Kami Rita Sherpa, aged 55 and a Nepali mountain guide, completed his 31st climb of
Mount Everest and broke his record for the most successful trips to the mountain's peak.
❖ World Vape Day was observed on May 30th to raise awareness about the potential benefits

Alaigal scheme
❖ Tamil Nadu CM launched the 'Alaigal' project at a capital outlay of Rs.25 crore.

❖ It aims to provide the micro-Loans to the fisherwomen groups for their economic
upliftment.
❖ The new Tuna Fishing Harbour was also inaugurated at Thiruvottiyur.
❖ This Fishing Harbour is the first of its kind in India exclusively for Tuna fishing.
Eliya Aalumai Scheme
❖ Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has launched two schemes – 'Uzhavarai Thedi and
Eliya Aalumai (SimpleGov).
❖ The Uzhavarai Thedi Velanmai Thittam will be implemented in all 17,116 revenue
villages of Tamil Nadu within a year.

❖ The team will include Block Level Officers of all departments, animal husbandry,
co-operation and Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
❖ The team will meet the farmers and explain the field protection, area, cultivation
and yield.
❖ It is planned to conduct this camp twice a month in selected villages.
❖ Similarly, through the Eliya Aalumai scheme, the government will also be able to
effectively improve the functioning of the government and provide the required
services to the citizens online.
❖ Under this scheme, the Sanitary certificates, General Building licenses, Hostel
licenses for working women, the licenses for women's homes, the property value
certificates, the old age home licenses, the conduct certificates, and no objection
certificates for government employees to get passports can be obtained.

‘Know Your DIGIPIN’ and ‘Know Your PIN Code’
❖ The Department of Posts launched two transformative digital platforms: ‘Know
Your DIGIPIN’ and ‘Know Your PIN Code’.
❖ The DIGIPIN (Digital Postal Index Number) is an open-source, interoperable, geo-
coded, grid-based digital address system.
❖ It is developed by the Department of Posts in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad
and NRSC, ISRO.
❖ The six-digit PIN Code system, introduced in 1972, has served as the backbone
of India’s postal delivery.

❖ By using this platform, the users can Identify the correct PIN Code based on their
location.
E-Hansa aircraft
❖ India has initiated the development of E-Hansa, a next-generation, two-seater
electric trainer aircraft.
❖ The aircraft is being developed by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research
- National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) in Bengaluru.
❖ It is designed to be a cost-effective and indigenous option for pilot training in
India.
❖ The E-HANSA is part of the larger HANSA-3 (NG) trainer aircraft program.
Mission LiFE and NAPCC
❖ The government is considering adding Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment)
to the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC).
❖ Currently, the NAPCC has eight active missions across sectors like water, energy,
and agriculture, aimed at addressing climate change.
❖ Prime Minister had inclined for Mission LiFE at the 26th Conference of the Parties
(COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC).
❖ The mission was officially launched in October 2022.
❖ It aims to mobilise at least one billion people in India and worldwide to take the
individual and collective action to protect and conserve the environment between
2022 and 2028.

❖ The Mission LiFE aims for three core shifts in the collective approach to the
sustainability:
o A change in demand at the personal level,
o A change in supply at the business level, and
o A change in policy to support sustainable consumption and production.
Traditional Medicine module under ICHI
❖ An agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Ayush and the World
Health Organization (WHO).
❖ The agreement marks the beginning of work on a dedicated Traditional Medicine
module under the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI).

❖ This initiative will help in making the Ayush reach a maximum number of people
across the world in a scientific manner.
Land port closure for Bangladesh
❖ The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has shut down all the land ports with
Bangladesh for export of apparel (readymade garments) from Bangladesh.
❖ The order also shut down the northeastern land ports with Bangladesh to restrict
the export of specific items from Bangladesh.
❖ However, it is allowed through Nhava Sheva and Kolkata seaports.
❖ But the import of fish, LPG, edible oil and crushed stone from Bangladesh will
remain unaffected.
❖ There are 24 operational land ports between India and Bangladesh, and several
other crossings are being developed.

Bill Legalizing Assisted Dying – France
❖ France’s National Assembly approved a bill that would allow adults suffering from
unbearable and incurable illnesses to choose assisted dying.
❖ Under strict conditions, some people will be able to request medical help to end
their lives peacefully and with dignity.

❖ Adults over 18 and living in France, can apply for assisted dying if they have a
serious, incurable illness that causes constant physical or mental suffering.
❖ If it is approved, the law could take full effect by 2026.
❖ With this move, France may soon join other countries like Belgium and the
Netherlands, where assisted dying is already legal.
2nd ASEAN - GCC - China Summit
❖ The 2nd ASEAN- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit was held in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.
❖ GCC, China and ASEAN agreed to “chart a unified and collective path towards a
peaceful, prosperous, and just future”.

❖ The GCC comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United
Arab Emirates.
❖ The ASEAN members are Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam,
Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

First Stigma Scale for Sickle Cell Disease
❖ The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recently developed India’s first
ICMR-SCD Stigma Scale for India (ISSSI).
❖ The three scales available globally were unsuitable due to India’s diversity.
❖ ISSSI is the first in India and the fourth globally, available in clinical and research
settings.
❖ Sickle cell disease is caused by the inheritance of two mutated β-globin genes,
one from each parent.
❖ India accounts for the second-highest prevalence of the sickle cell disease (SCD)
globally, following sub-Saharan Africa.

World Multiple Sclerosis Day 2025 - May 30
❖ It aims to raise the awareness about multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic, often
disabling neurological condition.
❖ Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurological condition where the immune system
mistakenly attacks the protective covering of nerve fibres.

❖ It leads to communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body.
❖ On this day in 2009, mountaineer Lori Schneider became the first person with
MS to summit Mount Everest.

INS Tarini 2025 - Completes World Voyage
❖ The Indian Naval Sailing Vessel returns after completing an eight-month
circumnavigation of the globe.

❖ The vessel sailed over 25,400 nautical miles (approximately 50,000 km) across
four continents, three oceans, and three Great Capes.
❖ The vessel is managed by two women officers, Lieutenant Commanders Roopa A
and Dilna K.
