then insert this roofing tile (see Fig. 11). (To insert the new roofing tile,
use the slater’s ripper in combination and make the slater’s ripper serve
as a guide plate.)

Replacement of cutting blade Apply adhesive.

1. Procedure for Using Touch-up Paint

<1> Touch-up paint
●Be noted that touch-up paint for the GLASSA Series is different from that for the QUAD Series.
●Touch-up paint dedicated to COLORBEST is designed to touch up partial stains and minor scratches (designed for local touch-
up). DO NOT use this paint to touch up stains, etc. in wide areas. (Doing so may result in uneven color or brightness.)
CAUTION ●Using thinner or hydrochloric acid to remove paint or mortal from the surface of COLORBEST may result in discoloration.
NEVER use it for such purpose.

To handle the paint, follow the MSDS submitted by KMEW.

(1) Touch-up paint for the GLASSA Series

Procedure for use
1) Cleaning and drying an area to be touched up
Thoroughly remove stains and dust from the coating surface.
Before painting, ensure that the coating surface gets thoroughly dry. Cur Cur
2) Mixing paint age ing age ing
nt A nt B
After thoroughly agitating the base resin, put a bottle of curing agent
A in a pail of paint, and then lightly agitate them with an agitating rod.
Subsequently, put a bottle of curing agent B in the said pail, and then
thoroughly agitate until they become homogeneous.
Use the paint within a period of eight hours after it is mixed.
Base resin
3) Painting
Use the supplied brush to apply the paint without dripping.

Procedure for Using Touch-up Paint

Use the paint only to touch up scratches. Prevent the painting area
from becoming larger. Continue agitating for a period of approx. two minutes
after mixing the curing agents A and B.

●Be sure to use touch-up paint for the GLASSA Series by mixing the base resin with the curing agents A and B.
Failure to mix with the curing agents will interfere with the curing of the coated film. (Pay careful attention not to fail to mix with them.)
●Since there are some restrictions on touch-up paint for the GLASSA Series including usable life, touch-up painting should be
completed within the day in principle.
Once the paint pail has been opened or the paint has been mixed, it cannot be used at a later date.

CAUTION ●Avoid coating at temperatures below 5ºC. DO NOT expose the coated roof tiles to rainwater within a period of two hours after
coating.
●If it is difficult to apply the paint due to high temperatures or high roof surface temperatures during summertime, slightly
dilute it with water to use it.
●Store the paint indoors without high temperatures.
(2) Touch-up paint for the QUAD Series (Spot Color)
Procedure for use
1) To apply the paint, mask the portions that need not to be applied in advance with masking paper (e.g. polyethylene sheet) and masking tape.
2) Drying time slightly varies with weather conditions and materials to use.
3) Remove dust, oil, rust, mold, and wax from the coating surface.
4) To use the paint, thoroughly shake the paint container to agitate the contents.
5) To spray the paint, provide a 20- to 30-cm space between the coating surface and the spray nozzle.
6) Do not thickly apply the paint at a time. While moving in parallel to the coating surface, apply a slightly thin coating of paint evenly two or three times at
intervals of 10 to 15 minutes on a wet-on-wet basis.
7) After completion of coating, turn the container upside down, and then blow for a period of approx. two seconds to prevent the spray nozzle from
clogging. Thoroughly wipe the spray nozzle, and then out a lid on it.
8) The drying time is approx. 30 minutes, but it slightly varies with weather conditions.
9) DO NOT use the paint for any purpose than the original purpose.

(3) Touch-up paint for metallic accessories and ventilation ridges for the GLASSA Series
Procedure for use
1) Cleaning and drying an area to be touched up
Thoroughly remove stains and dust from the coating surface. Before painting, ensure that the surface is thoroughly dry.
2) Coating of paint
Use the supplied brush to apply the paint without dripping. Use the paint only to touch up scratches. Prevent the painting area from becoming larger.

(1) In case of slitless roofing tile:
If a slitless roofing tile is broken in a wall joint (on the ridge Flashing

4. Repair & Maintenance Procedure

<4> Repainting procedure
Buildings need to provide long-term durability. In order to maintain the roof functions and beauty of buildings over a long period of time, it is essential not only to
observe the building construction standards, but also to implement thorough maintenance management and work to enhance the durability.
Leaving buildings without appropriate maintenance will result in shorter life of the roofs and also of the buildings themselves.
(For maintenance, please consult with specialized contractors.)

<COLORBEST>
□Repainting
●The purpose of repainting is to maintain and enhance the beauty of building.
●Not applying repainting will have no adverse influence on the physical properties and waterproofness of base materials used in COLORBEST.
●For repainting, use “Refresh Coat PS” paint dedicated to COLORBEST.
●Applying improper paint (or repainting procedure) will result in roof leaks. Commercially available paint other than the dedicated paint presents problems with
adhesion with roofing tiles and may consequently causes chalking, etc. NEVER attempt to use any commercially available paint.

●KMEW is not responsible for any problems arising from the use of any paint other than Refresh Coat PS, such as chalking or
peeling of coated film.
CAUTION ●Refresh Coat PS is not applicable to the GLASSA Series.

<5> Other repair procedures

Repair & Maintenance

<Accessories made of prepainted steel sheet>
●Repaint accessories made of prepainted steel sheet when coated film on their surface commences chalking or peeling.
●Continual use of rusty metallic accessories will promote corrosion to make holes in them, thus resulting in roof leaks.
●If rust is generated in a metallic accessory, remove the rust to repaint it or replace it with a new metallic accessory.

<Nails that fix accessories>

●If any nail that fixes a ridge or other accessory comes off, this will result in the dispersion of a ridge cover, etc. To avoid that, replace or refasten nails that fix the
accessories.

<Wooden accessories, including copings>

●Rotting wooden accessories used in ridges, including copings, will cause them to disperse in typhoons or in strong winds.
●To repaint metallic accessories on the roof, check for any rotting wooden accessories including copings.
●If any rotting wooden accessory is found, replace it with a new one.
