Step 1: If you don’t already have Google Earth™ installed on your computer, click on the website
below and follow the directions for installation.

Step 2: Left click on the “RTK Network Mapping Tool” link below the “Setup Instructions” link.
Select “Run” on the window that appears. Note: A security warning may come up stating the
program does not have a publisher. Select “Run.”

Step 3: WinZip Self-Extractor will come up in another window. All of the RTK Network Mapping
Tool files will be copied over to C:\Tools unless another location is specified. Click the “Unzip”
button.
Step 4: Check the output folder that was selected in Step 3 and verify the “KML Circle
Painter.exe” program and the “Data Input.csv” file were copied over.

Step 5: Open and input your RTK Network information into the file “Data Input.csv” file
beginning with line 1. (Type over the data already in line 1)
Do NOT change the format of the spreadsheet.

Column A: base station name

Column B: height
Column C: latitude coordinates
Column D: longitude coordinates
The latitude and longitude coordinates must be in decimal form.

Close the spreadsheet when finished. Select “Yes” to save changes to the file. Select “Save” to save
over the original Data Input.csv file. Select “Yes” to replace the existing file. Select “Yes” to keep
the workbook in the same file format.

Step 6: Once the file is updated, execute the “KML Circle Painter.exe.”
Using the KML Circle Painter Tool

Step 1: Input File

Click the “Browse”

button at the top
center and navigate to
the Data Input.csv file
created earlier. All
RTK Network
information should be included in that file, before running this program.

Step 2 – Output Options – Draw Center Points

Verify that the “Draw Center Points” check box is checked. All
data entered in the spreadsheet will be displayed unless you
uncheck this box. The color of the center point can be changed
by clicking on the “Center Point Color” button.
Step 3: Output Options – Draw Coverage Circles

Check the “Draw Coverage Circles” check box to

display your coverage on Google Earth. Line and
area color of the circle can be changed by clicking
on the buttons. Transparency of each can also be
adjusted; 0 meaning no transparency and 100
meaning completely invisible. Lastly, circle
radius can be adjusted using the arrows on the
right hand side.

Step 4: Output File

After the program runs, a

kml file will be created and
outputted to whatever
folder location designated.
Simply click on the “Browse” button to choose the folder where the .kml file will reside. The file
name will default to “out.kml”. A new file name should be entered if multiple files will be created.

Step 5: Build the KML file

Click on the “Build KML File” button to generate the coverage map. Once completed, a link will
come up in blue in the bottom left hand corner. Click that link to open the file in Google Earth™.
The other option is to go to the output folder that was selected and manually open the output file.
