General Instructions: Read the following instructions very carefully and strictly follow them:

• Marks are indicated against each question.

• Answers to questions carrying 3 marks may be from 50 to 75 words.
• Answers to questions carrying 4 marks may be in about 150 words.
• Answers to questions carrying 6 marks may be in about 200 words.
• Attempt all parts of a question together.
1. Shridhar’s father is working as a section incharge in a government office. Identify the level of
Management at which he is working and state any one function he has to perform at this level.(1)
2. Ram Murty, a Professor of Management conducted a class on 'Management principles and
explained to his students the significance of Management Principles. In the next class, the
Professor asked his students to play roles of different managers. He gave them various situations
and asked them to think like managers and provide solutions to the problems given in these
situations. Each student applied the principles of management to the given situation in his own
personalized manner, depending upon his creativity. Identify the nature of management
highlighted in the above case. (1)

14. Employees in an organisation deserve fair and just remuneration. But what is just and fair is
determined by multiple factors, such as contributions of the employee, paying capacity of the
employer and also prevailing wage rate for the occupation under consideration. State the
characteristic of principles of management is highlighted above? (1)
15. State the benefit of the method of internal sources of recruitment illustrated by the picture given
below in which a manager is shifting an employee from a lower job position to a higher job

16. Employees of Dramatic International have to strictly follow the plans designed by the top level. It
restricts their initiative. Discuss the limitation of planning indicated in the given statement. (1)

22. Vardan Patel started the business of preparation and supplying sweets through home delivery at
a production cum show-room 'Express Sweets' at Ahmedabad. He made a plan forecasting the
sales of different types of sweets in various localities of Ahmedabad for each month of the year to
earn a profit of 20% on Capital employed. He sets a sales target of 20,00,000 in the current year
with a 10% increase every year. He then set the criteria for selecting suppliers from whom he
would make purchases of raw material. The planning paid off and the business was able to
achieve its targets. Identify any two types of plans by quoting the lines from the above. (3)
23. How would you argue that the success of a business enterprise is significantly influenced by its
environment? Explain by giving three reasons. (3)
24. Kavita Ghai was the Managing Director of a restaurant in Lucknow called 'Healthy Kitchen. The
restaurant was doing well and the volume of work started increasing slowly and steadily. Kavita
Ghai was not able to manage all the work on her own. The increasing magnitude of work made it
impractical for her to handle it all by herself. Moreover, her objective is to open more branches of
this restaurant at different places. She appointed Nikhil Gupta, as a General Manager of 'Healthy
Kitchen, Lucknow and gave him the right to command his subordinates and to take action within
the scope of his position. For smooth running of the restaurant, she also gave him authority to
hire and train the staff as per the requirements. Kavita Ghai was satisfied with the work of Nikhil
Gupta and was able to open other branches of the restaurant in Agra and Kanpur also.
(a) Identify the concept followed by Kavita Ghai which helped her to open the new branches of
the restaurant.
(b) Also, explain briefly the two points of importance of the concept identified in (a) above. (3)

26. Prem India Limited is a well-established International Camera Company. It was pioneer in
introducing products like non-dig aim and shoot cameras. After tasting success in the previous
project, they introduced a wide array of products in DSLR camera Their products range from 20 to
250 mega pixels digital cameras. With the advancement of technology, they planned to make
huge investment in developing and selling even higher resolution digital cameras. The made a
budget allocation of 1,000 crore in developing it. The company has started working on this
improved product. It is a lengthy process of research and development may take 2 to 3 years to
actually start production. In the meantime, one of its competitors moved a step forward and
developed and marketed mirror-less cameras in the market. It resulted in heavy losses to Prem
India limited. Explain any two limitations of planning being referred in above para. (4)
27. In an organisation, managers need to reconcile differences in approach, timing, effort or interest.
At the same time, there is a need to harmonize individual goals and organisational goals. State
any four characteristics of the concept of management highlighted in the above para. (4)
28. Newrange is a chain of department stores in India with 56 outlets. It sells the best products at the
lowest price. The Human Resource department takes care to select, train, motivate and retain the
employees. Currently, it has 170 full time employees and 30 part time employees. For top-level
management, employees are recruited through private consultants. These professional recruiters
can poach the needed top executives from other companies by making the right offers.
Employees appointed at the entry level are recruited through walk-in-interviews. For that, a
notice is placed on the notice board specifying the details of the jobs available "Newrange' also
encourages present employees or their friends and relatives to refer candidates. They also visit
some of the reputed educational institutions to hire some of the most talented and promising
students as its employees. "Newrange shifts the workforce from surplus departments to those
where there is a shortage of staff instead of laying them off. Explain any four internal and external
sources of recruitment used by 'Newrange' to recruit its employees. (4)
29. National Digital Library of India (NDL India) is a pilot project initiated by the HRD ministry. It
works towards developing a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-
window search facility. It provides support to all academic levels including researchers, life-long
learners and differently abled learners free of cost. Identify and explain two dimensions of
business environment highlighted above. (4)
30. Kiran Industries is a company manufacturing office furniture. The company chose to diversify its
operations to improve its growth potential and increase market share. As the project was
important, many alternatives were generated for the purpose and were thoroughly discussed
amongst the members of the organisation. After evaluating the various alternatives, Sukhvinder,
the Managing Director of the company, decided that they should add 'Home Interiors and
Furnishings' as a new line of business activity. Name the framework, which the diversified
organisation should adopt, to enable it to cope with the emerging complexity? State three merits
of this framework. (4)
31. Damini D'Souza took over the reins of 'Kinsa Retail' as its Managing Director in India. "Kinsa
Retail' with its headquarter at Japan has been in the retail business for the last 40 years. It has
regional offices in many countries that take care of the shops in that region. As it is a large
organisation, the regional officers have been given the powers to decide and spend funds
sanctioned to them by the headquarter for the welfare of the customers of their region. "Kinsa
Retail' wants the highest possible standards of ethical conduct being followed, for which a code of
conduct is in place for putting values into practice. All employees as well as Board members are
required to act in accordance with the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
when acting on behalf of the company. Non-compliance involves a heavy penalty including
termination of employment.

33. Payal is the marketing manager of a company selling mobile phones. She plans the target sale of
2000 mobile phones per month. She allocates necessary resources to execute the plan. She has
six salesmen working under her. She works with them, guiding and motivating them to achieve
the target sales. At the end of the month, after comparison of actual sales with the target sales,
she found that actual sales exceeded the target sales. She rewards the efficient employees in
order to motivate them.
Identify and explain the four functions of management highlighted above by quoting the lines (6)
