Which Years Are Leap Years?
A normal year has 365 days but a Leap Day has 366 days. The leap day is an
extra, or intercalary, day which is added it to the shortest month of the year,
February.
In the Gregorian calendar, three criteria must be taken into account to identify leap years:
• The year is exactly divisible by 4;
• If the year is exactly divisible by
100, then it is not a leap year,
unless the year is also divisible
by 400.
