Internship Program
The program is meant to facilitate and promote cooperative
learning/contribution/work/performance through a mandatory supervised
internship program for a minimum of continuous 6 weeks. It comprises
240 hours’ work, i.e. 40 hours per week, in any institution/organization
that relates to the concerned BS program. The training program should
be planned and agreed upon by both the institution and the host
organization. The institution should receive a report of each trainee
indicating the training details, interest shown by the student, his/her
work habits and punctuality. The internship program will be assessed
through defined rubrics encompassing respective learning domains.
Notes:
i- Departments can modify the proforma to serve their subject
requirements. Modification includes increase or decrease or change of
ILOs (Internship Learning Outcomes).
ii- The ration of the marks for two supervisors is mandatory: 20 marks for
the supervisor in host organization and 40 marks for the Departmental
supervisor.
iii- It is a credited activity and will not be counted towards teacher’s
workload.
iv- Departmental teacher / supervisor will evaluate and mark the internships
reports of the whole class and submit the result of the whole class like
other results.
v- Not all categories of ILOs may be necessarily applicable to every
internee. The department / supervisor(s) may modify ILOs according to
the nature of Internship.

In the light of the above, the following SOPs may kindly be approved
for this agenda item.

Internship Policy
BS Program
The following guidelines are proposed for supervised mandatory internships for BS program.
The mandatory duration of the internship would be a minimum of continuous 6 weeks
comprising 40 hours a week and 240 hours in total. It will be under the nominated supervisor of
the Department and the supervision of Principal/Director/In Charge (or the nominee) of the host
organization or Institution.

The following SOPs of Internship will be observed:


 The internees should get a signed Internship recommendation letter from the department
in the format provided at the start of the semester
 The internee should be undergoing a minimum of 6 weeks of continuous internship.
 The preferred time slot for an internship is after 6th semester.
 Internship can be conducted in summer semester after 6 th semester, or during 7th or 8th
semester. However, the result will be compiled and submitted in the semester that carries this
subject as approved by the respective departmental BoS.
 An internee shall submit his/her semester internship report to the allocated Departmental
supervisor.
 Internee will maintain a daily Logbook, duly signed by the internship supervisor at the site
and the student himself. It must also be shared in the WhatsApp group made by the
departmental supervisor.
 Internees must observe the safety & security rules of the Organization where they receive
internship facilities.
 Internee must observe the working Timings of the Internship Employer Organization.
 In case of Leaves, the internee will complete the lag by increasing the number of days of the
internship. Incomplete or less than 6 week internship will not be accepted.
 Internees should seek advice from their “supervisor” present at the site, to ensure that no
confidential matters/materials are included in the report.
 Internees should follow the standard report format.
 The report will be assessed by the Departmental supervisor as per the rubrics provided by
the Department.
 The report will also be verified by the departmental supervisor.
 The internship certificate should be original with diary no, signature and stamp, and phone
no. A fake certificate will lead to failure and a disciplinary action.
 Internship training of 60 marks will be evaluated by departmental supervisor through the
following: Internship report, WhatsApp group communication, interview.
 Students are required to submit internship feedback Proforma (to be verified by the
internship supervisor at the site).
 In case of failure to comply with the above-mentioned guidelines, a case of re-internship will
be initiated.
 These SOPs are applicable from the Fall 2024 admission.

1. Report Format
The written Internship/Employment Report must strictly comply with the following
requirements.
(i) Use A4 sized good quality white paper for the final draft.
(ii) Typed with the following settings, Font Style Times New Roman, Font Size 12 Pts
(Except for Headings which should not exceed 20 Pts), Page Margins Left 1.2’,
Right 1’, Top & Bottom 1’ and Line Spacing 1.5.
(iii) Get the final copies bound properly. (Tape Binding)
(iv) Submit 2 copies (one will be returned to you after evaluation).
(v) Follow the format below.

what company initiatives you observed, etc.)

Describe the company with whom your internship/employment was carried out with a brief
overview of its past, present and the future outlook. Mention the background to your
involvement with this company, including the location of the facility at which the work was
done. Describe your position and the basic areas/specializations in which you worked for your
internship.

3. Work Description
Describe in detail the nature of the work or the nature of the project or projects, which you
carried out, stressing as much as possible the business aspects of your work. Describe the goals
of the job/project, the methods used to approach the project. Describe your
responsibilities/duties, accomplishments, new knowledge acquired, problems encountered and
how the experience may impact your career.

Also Include a statement of the number of hours worked, with supporting documents in the
Appendix.

Do not disclose any proprietary information.

4. Analysis
Describe the usefulness of your internship/employment work in advancing your understanding of
the subject/specialization. What did you learn from this experience? Include both the technical
and non-technical learning (for example, you might describe such things as how your
organization was structured, how individuals worked together in your company, how technical
employees interacted with customers, what company initiatives you observed, the importance of
your job in overall business activity of the organization etc.)

Analyze your performance during the internship. What are your three primary strengths? Give
examples of what you did well. What are three areas that you would like to improve? Give
examples of what you would do differently. Ask your supervisor for input on this aspect of the
report.

What textbook knowledge you used in solving problems assigned to you on job or in carrying
out your responsibilities?

5. Conclusions
Summarize the usefulness of your internship/employment work in advancing your understanding
of the profession, both technically and organizationally. Summarize what you learned from the
experience.

VI. Defense & Evaluation

➡️ Departmental Supervisor conducts Defense/Viva.
➡️ Marks are assigned based on performance and report.

VII. Result Submission


📍 7th or 8th Semester
➡️ Result is submitted with the final result of the semester in which Departmental Board of
Studies (BOS) has approved it.
➡️ Internship marks are included in the relevant semester’s final results.
