Overview
With Handy Safe program you can have all important information in one place, safe, secure, easy to
access, and always with you.
You can store credit card PINs, calling cards, user names, passwords, codes, accounts (email, Internet,
shopping, bank), web pages, addresses, and much more.
Handy Safe utility has over 35 unique information forms to store everything.
Over 35 built-in icons to associate with your records help you get organized in style.
Handy Safe password protection and strong Blowfish 448-bit data encryption
(http://www.counterpane.com/blowfish.html) keep your information private and secure.
Login
When you start Handy Safe, you go to the login view.
At the first start, Handy Safe will prompt you to set a password for your data. Remember it, because if you
forget your password, you won’t be able to access your data.
Next time when you start Handy Safe, it will prompt you to enter your password. Type the password in the
edit box and press Done.

If you forgot your password, delete Handy Safe data files (see Sync & Backup section). You will lose
all your data, but will be able to use Handy Safe further.
Main view
The main view of Handy Safe shows the list of the records with their icons. Click on a record to view the
record details.
You can filter the list by choosing a folder in the top right corner. There are several default folders:
Business, Personal, Samples. Select All to see all records. Select Edit folders to create new or modify
existing folders.
Creating new record
Select New on the Handy Safe menu. In the appeared dialog select the type for a new record. You can
choose between standard types and custom types. See Custom types section for more info.

Then fill the record details and press Back button to return to the main view.
You can also write a note for the record by selecting the Note tab at the bottom.
In the upper right corner select the folder to put this record in.
Finding records
Select Find on the Handy Safe menu and type a word or phrase to search for.
Handy Safe will list the found records if any. Click on any record to view it.
Editing records
Click on any record in the main view to see its details. The record will be shown in the read-only mode.
To modify it, select Edit on the Edit menu.
When editing the record you can modify the content of the record fields. You can also Add / Edit / Delete
the fields via the Edit menu.

Changing password
Select Set password on the Edit menu to change your password. Type the new password in the
appeared dialog and press Done.
Custom types
You can create your own types of records, not only use the standard types.
To create a new type:
• Create a new record of any standard type, which is most close to your purpose.
• Edit the record. Add the required fields via Add field on the Edit menu. Delete the useless fields via
Delete field on the Edit menu.
• Select Save as type on the Handy Safe menu. And type the name of the new type.
Next time when you create a new record, this type will be in the Custom tab of the New dialog.

Preferences
Select Preferences on the Edit menu to change program options:
• Lock in background – this will lock Handy Safe when you switch to another application
• Autolock after – this will lock Handy Safe after the specified timeout
Sync & Backup
To sync your data with PC:
• Start Handy Safe Desktop on PC (via Start Menu> Programs> Epocware> Handy Safe).
• Close Handy Safe on the phone (select Exit on the Handy Safe menu) or just Lock it.
• Press the Sync button on the toolbar of Handy Safe Desktop.
Your data will be synchronized with PC.
If you cannot sync:
• Make sure that you have PC Suite software installed on the PC and that the phone is connected.
• Make sure that you have the correct phone type selected in the toolbar of Handy Safe Desktop.

Files
Handy Safe stores its data in two files: Safe.ind and Safe.dat in the C:\System\Apps\Safe\ folder on the
phone.
Handy Safe Desktop stores its data in the same two files: Safe.ind and Safe.dat in the C:\Program
Files\Epocware\Handy Safe\ folder on the PC.
You can access C:\System\Apps\Safe\ folder on the phone with freeware File Manager or with
Epocware PC File Manager (get free trial version at www.epocware.com).
